You can grab a 5 speed from a later KE55/KE70 from the wreckers fairly easily, thing is 5th isn't really a notable difference when you're driving, it's almost not worth it!

I used to have a KE38 5-speed wagon and a KE55 4-speed sedan, and the difference in the revs is little (give or take 300-400 rpm) if you dont have a box yet, it isnt really worth the swap.

the difference is in the shifter position. if you have a KE30/55, you need an extension housing from that series, but it can be put onto a KE70 box to make it fit.
400rpm? so i'd be doing 4300-4400rpm at 110km/hr rather than 47-4800? sound sgood to me for long trips
you could always get a T50 with a cable clutch K to T bellhousing, but i have only ever seen or heard of two of them. if you change to hydraulic clutch you could use a 5K K to T BH, but for the effort, it's not really worth it (unless you are breaking more than one K box per year or so....)
