Hi,
You'd be surprised at some of the crap people actually buy.
For example, a friend of mine just spent a stack of money buying "oxygen-free" audio cables. I told him it's all wank and bullshit, but, like so many others, he is totally ignorant of such things and he sees the big price tag and fancy advertising blurb and he's sucked in all the way.
I bought an Intel MDS-IV microprocessor development system a few months ago for $650 and in the documentation was the original sales docket. When new, back in 1984, this system was bought for $46,400. Now, that's what I call depreciation!
Nothing depreciates as quick as old computer systems, Hyundais or Magnas. A good classic Toyota on the other hand, goes up. My car is worth $4k more than when I bought it - each year I gotta get it evalued and adjust the insurance.
Oops, I've gone off topic here. Sorry about that. However, sometimes it is amusing to scan through eBay and see the sort of shit people sell. Still, there are buyers out there that like and want this crap. I make it a point to never buy anything where the seller puts in "WOW" in the text of whatever they are selling. WOW = major phuckhead seller - avoid at all costs.
A few weeks ago a guy in the states was selling some Celica bits. One of them was the window winder handle. The text was something like "WOW. Classic Celica winder. 2nd Hand. Connects to the door and helps make the window go up and down."
My thoughts were - "Thanks mate, you dickhead!"

Bugger - with destabilised voltage, un-ionized fuel, uncompressed air and no Rocket style NFI Racing Pod Filter I'm surprised my car runs at all.....

actually guys, those magnetic things that go over the fuel lines are supposed to be ok. the dont do anything major, but they do apparently increase mileage.
the only reason i even began to believe this is that i read about it on another forum, and was told that many new cars have the same sort of devices covering there fuel lines.

So how do they work? What elements in petrol are changed by passing through a magnetic field? For that matter, can short chain hydrocarbons be ionised? What carries the charge in an organic liquid to allow this ionisation to take place?
The picture makes it look like petrol is a dispersion of fine particles - what are the particles dispersed in? Are they small petrol "particles" in a petrol medium - a dispersion of petrol in petrol to make petrol?
You should have better reasons to believe something than simply "other people on the internet believe it as well".

LOL, those links are gold
as far magnet crap.
isn't this why brocky and holden split?
if fuel saving was as simple as just putting on a magnet.. sorry, "fuel ioniser", then all manufacturers would be doing it.
find ONE manufacturer who fits these fuel savers as STANDARD.
heh heh, cos you want to 'ionise' your fuel these sellers don't even understand basic scientific principles!!
when you ionise argon tho, it has a nice pretty glow (in an argon plasma cleaner)
the best system i've seen is where you align the north pole of a magnet toward the fuel, and then the south pole toward the air intake, and then the air and fuel molecules attract toward each other, resulting in better combustion
as for 'oxygen free copper' there is merit, in that low oxygen copper (ie less oxygen on interstitial sites in the metals crystal structure) DOES result in lower electrical resistance. it is possible that this results in less noise being introduced in the signal being passed thru it. it could also result in less electrical losses. i don't have any references for these effects, but someone else can look that up
the thing is that it is more expensive to produce, so for most applications it is not cost effective, nor will 99.9% of people notice.
if you had a high powered HOME hi-fi system with top quality components, you might be able to detect slight differences using OFC cable or not.
anyhoo, my rant for the day

Actually brocky invented the Engine Ioniser which was supposed to stabilise all the magnetic fields around an engine... just one of those times when you go crazy at some point of your life...

OFC wiring is less resistive and less prone to induced noise but the figures have a decimal point and quite a few zero's befor any other numbers. If you had some really crap wires running with power leads vs ofc leads shielded and separate from power sources you MAY hear a difference if you are good but the actual speaker being used would be more prone to vary the sound quality.

i dont know about all these "engine ionisers" and "polarisers" etc etc, but if u wanna save a little on ur fuel bill, run a little ethanol through ur tank every few fills. ( or metho for the cheap seats ) it cleans out all the shit in the bottom of the tank, and gets all the water out of the system real good. also cleans out the fuel lines etc etc.
sure, it is shit when it is a major component of fuel for the miliage vs dollar thing, but as a cleaning agent, it works a treat.
especially good for diesels with "black death syndrome" or a wax build up.
as for alligning the south pole etc etc blah blah, wat a crock of shit!!!!!
cheers bbaacchhyy, was a good laugh there.

I resent that-I buy all that suff. And when all the gear gets here, I calculated that the crown should be doing 7.50's at 190mph all for less than $200.
Just you watch your mouth Holden boy.
Maybe if you were working at a certain super tough car plant down south you wouldn't be so bored. I've got Ron Jaekel here and he reckons so as well.

Hi Sean,
Don't call me a Holden Boy, I just work here !!!!!!
Get Ron to say g'day to spotter, Adrian and the other guys. Must catch up with them one day
I still laugh when people think they can magnetise a carbon based (i.e. non-magnetic) substance

I can't beleive you guys are all so disbeleiving..
I bought one of those battery leveller doobies and it didn't work, I sent it back with a letter saying I want my money back and he asked me a few questions - turns out I had the wrong colour.. ha ha - silly me He sent me a yellow anodised one instead of the red (I thought red was faster - so therefore better) and it works great now...
I also bought one of those fuel saver whatsits.. I got such better consumption rates from my driving I bought another and it improved it again, so I bought another, and another.... now, my whole fuel lines are covered in these things and it's so economical, I have to pull up at every 4th servo just to syphon petrol OUT of my tank....
Just remember - if it's on the Internet - it must be real !!!!!!
