Camry ignition problem

Hi Guys,
I've just joined this group to try and sort out a problem with a friends Camry. It's an 89, 2 litre DOHC, 24 valve motor, with a carby. Every time you start it cold, it runs on 3 cylinders and once warm, kicks in no1 cyclinder. I replaced the plug leads thinking that would fix it, but, no it did not.
The NO1 plug lead appears to fire a very week spark and then after a while picks up and fires the plug. I'm suspecting the dizzy with it's built in coil?
Anyone had this problem before?
Cheers,
Ron

I had a similar problem, it could be a clogged injector.

Hate to be picky, but...
* there was never a 24 valve, 2 litre camry. 2 litre with carb = 3SFC
* A clogged injector with a carb =
If there's a weak spark there, check out the dizzy cap carefully would be a good start. Just check the whole ignition system, then move onto the more serious (mechanical) stuff. Not, of course, forgetting vacuum leaks

Well, bugger me!
If this car is a 2 ltr DOHC 24 valve engine with a carby, what in hell is it?
The reason I got to know it, was the head gasket went, and I volunteered to fix it. What a bastard of a job!!!
It definately has 4 valves per pot and has 2000cc written all over the top
I have replaced the plug leads and the cap is fine, no vacuum leaks..
