They're not too bad at major events like swimming  I reckon the crowds will be MUCH bigger at Beijing and all seats sold out. There are 2billion people + japanese businessmen and all that will attend them coz they're heaps close etc etc
I wouldnt go there tho, coz it'll be packed to the shitter

yeh well Greece and Athens have brought it on themselves. firstly, everything in Athens is so expensive, especially the accommodation, so a lot of supporters from various countries havent travelled to the Games, which would have cut down on the crowd numbers a fair bit. it was on the news about a month ago, that a lot of Australian Olympians family and close friends werent travelling to Athens because they werent able to get accommodation, and werent even able to board with local Athenians because they're to stuck up to have foreigners staying with them.
also, 2 million Athenians have left Athens to go holidays, and thats around the number of tickets that hadnt been sold yet, this was a few days ago though.
as Dimmy said watch in 4 years time how packed out the Beijing Games are. i reckon the numbers might pick up in Athens now that the track and field has started.

i liked what the media said last night "greece priced themselves out of the market" i guess they're going to have to give tickets away for free.

yeah olympics are pretty crap this year except the womens vollyball
greeks are charging around $1000 per night at some hotels and there were like over 20,000 tickets unsold. Also olymics were during one of the greeks main holidays inwhich alot of greeks were out of the country...
also the australians who are there complain cause there's not like many partys or clubs that they can go to. Was in sydney not stop partying
anyone go to sydney olympics?

We almost beat the yanks at their own game last night (basketball)... We were winning at the end of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters but then ended up losing.
The SBS coverage is way better than the Channel 7. Barely any ads and they have some better stuff like white water canoeing and kayaking.

What i can't stand is Jana Pittman
what an act!!!! seriously, she's made this 'miraculous' injury/operation so public and the woman hasn't even competed yet...
She's all over the media saying how 'thankful' she is and what an experience blah blah, i mean, wouldn't you be talking AFTER you have run, and not attempting to rake in sympathy and acting as if it has changed her life?!
I reckon she couldn't hack the pressure and kinda used this injury as an excuse just in case she doesn't win
Either way, win or loss she'll still be seen as a 'champion' for apparently being so tough just to run in the race, ah well...what can ya do 
Olympics on the other hand, would be a good games if there had've been more crowds, other than that its up there as one of the best

Greeks have only themselves to blame for trying to suck too much money in accomodation etc.
Ch7 coverage is absolute shite. You get to see 5 mins of something, then it's off to another event for 5mins, then another. Disgraceful.
Jana "Pitman Arm" shits me to tears. She hasn't won anything yet and she's carrying on like she's the Thorpe (who annoys me a bit too) of Track & Field. She should pull her head in and shut the phuck up until she's done something. But yeah, I agree, if she fails she will say "well I did have a bad knee". So many others silently do their stuff and win medals without the "Pitman Arm" fanfare.
I like the Aussie girl hockey and b/ball teams tho. Nothing quite like a bunch of healthy sweaty chicks running around the place. I like the piss-take that HG and Roy do each night on The Dream.
I was amused that the chick beach Volley Ballers (what a wank sport) complained about bikini-clad dancers strutting their stuff during the game breaks. Especailly as the Volley ballers are wearing more skimpy outfits than the dancers.
You can always tell when the Aussies do good 'cos they're the things that CH7 shows. When I see their coverage I wonder if anyone else is in the Olympics other than us.

Im more of a winter games person myself. i see more skill in the events for some reason. For some strange reason i saw myself getting into the diving, hockey, and the canoing...... probably cos its stuff i dont see everyday. Unlike the swiming which shits me!

Greeks have the attitude that going out isn't right, and that you should stay home with your family. Thats one of the reasons not many people are turning up to events. Why bother when you can see it for free with your family on TV?
It's a strange introverted view, but oh well, each to their own I suppose.

whereas aussies in general are sports nuts
plus we're the sort of people who go to any event, even if they dont understand/like the sport, pick the team with the cool sounding name/underdog, and barrack for them like crazy.
Awesome environ for the games here, 'cause every team had loads of supporters, even if it was just boozing aussies barracking for nicaragua in the shot putt (or whatever)

It's dumb, but thats what you get.
Talk to some traditional Greeks (not modernised/Australianised Greeks - Actualy Italians, specificaly Sicilians will do) and you will find they generaly like to stay at home, have their family stay at home, and look down at anyone they know who likes to go out. They think going next door is a big outing. I'm not saying they are all like that, just enough to cause problems for ticket sales.
