4m to 5m part compat. Thu, 19 August 2004 08:47 Go to next message
will a 4m starter motor fit on a 5mge?

also is the radiator used in the 4m much different from the 5m? will it keep it cool enough? cheers

Should do, had a 2m on a 5mge.

I only used a 2core (rebuilt) on the 5mge and had no troubles. Still have it if you're after one.

another couple of questions, will a 5me afm work on a 5mge?

does the mx62 cressida have an external fuel pump which supplies enough psi to run the 5mge?

trying to save myself some cash here

AFM: might work if it's an early 5M-GE.

MX62 pump will work fine, don't know if it's external though. If you want an external EFI pump grab one from a VL Commodore or JE Camira.

Norbie: i know it has been covered before but exactly what are the tell tale signs of an early/later 5mge? multi v belt, 4 wires going to the tps?

Clubagreenie: on a supertight budget so thanks but no thanks. thats why im scabbing around getting dodgy old parts.

You might want to check out the forums at http://www.celicasupra.com/ for 5M-GE info... to be honest I can't remember the exact differences but you'll find it there.

5mge will have O2 sensor in the exhaust manifold, 5me does not.

5mge will also not have vacuum advance on the dizzi

oops... you're talking about GE version exclusively ,,, please ignore.. sorry.
