Yep AE85's only came with 3AC's, though they did get electronic ignition, autos, climate control, and power steering, dependant on delivery specification. they also missed out on passenger's wing mirror's, had a more basic trim package than the Aus spec Ae86's. I've also had AE85's come through with only 9" drum brakes and 2 pinion diff centres.

"passenger's wing mirror's"
Whats that?
And it has been debated, but is there any solid word yet on if the 85 chassis was weaker than the 86?

Oldcorollas: I would trust Initial-D more than a Australian car magazine when it came to Japanese car spec details. The Japanese are good at understanding both fundimentals and details, and there are lessons to be learnt in Initial-D. Its still a cartoon, but the culture behind it gives it more cred as a technical reference than anything from the western world.
AE85 - 1300cc
AE86 - 1600cc
A change in the last number often notes a change in bore/stroke used, but can be any other significant difference. eg.
TCR10 = 4 link rear suspension
TCR11 = same vehicle with IRS.
ST183 = 3S-GE?
ST184 = similar vehicle with 4ws

just out of interest, the drivers side "stuff shit into" pouch has AE85 embossed into it, i noticed when i threw mine out for more speaker room.
pasenger's wing mirror means the mirror on the passenger side, so the 85 cant fly as well as the 86

my apologies, i thought it was just a cartoon, not a credible technical reference. so everything they say in Initial-D is true? or just most things? or some things?
i'm certainly not saying i'd trust a magazine like "V8's beer and BBQ's"

I thought the 3As were 1500cc?
And that the ST182 was the 3SGE and ST184 was the 5SFE?
