Phase 2

Hi,
Phase 2 is getting the suspension, steering and brakes checked and fixed.
The nasty clunk and erratic steering forced me to get this done before getting the gearbox done.
Well, good news. The springs are fine and so are the shocks. Brakes and brake system is fine. The bushes and grommets are all okay too. Some of the front suspension bolts were loose and have been tightened up. However, the pitman arm is very badly worn.
I got a spare pitman arm - but its a TA22 part and I'm trying to verify if its the same as the RA25. I hope so.
Gonna throw on a rear sway bar and she's all done for Phase 2. I think I got out of this one cheaply and am much impressed by this. Means more money for the upcoming Phases.

Hi,
Hmmmm... Phase-2 is currently stalled. Can't source the pitman arm for the car. Bummer!

Hi,
I got to get my car ready for the Nationals next year and I have set out the various Phases required to achieve the desired results.
Nothing to do with Falcons - though I am a bit of a fan of the GTHO Phase 3 and do love the XB/XC falcons also.
It's in "Members Rides" 'cos I'm a member and it's my ride.
And, it allows me to chew up bandwidth and storage with my inane posts.

Hi,
Got the old girl back from the suspension place today.
Toobs was right - it did take longer than expected, but it was mainly 'cos I had trouble sourcing the bits. Big thanks to El Presidente for sourcing the bits for me.
Now she handles like she's on rails. No more tramping across the road for the hell of it. No more squeaks or thumps or whatever from the steering and suspension. No slop in the steering anymore - I point it and she goes in the same direction - like a new car now!
All the original shocks and springs are in perfect order, so I didn't get them replaced or lowered or hacked about in anyway 'cos this car is to stay original.
Toyota had parts, in Japan, for the car, but at over $150 for the pitman arm, $50 per tie-rod and $185 for the idler arm, plus a 3 week shipping wait - we were able to get the above (and more) for a tad over $200 (and in 2 days). What a bargain!
Okay - next phase is the gearbox.
