What do you think of this look for an AE86?

Hi,
I'm facing a dilema with the direction to take my ae86 in...
I am doing a turbo 4agze conversion over the christmas holidays, and i've been considering doing just a few small cosmetic modifications. Atm, my car has had a good deal of body work done and is very clean, painted in white (bumpers are colour coded, everything white except a new black rubber strip along the side), a little bit lowered on Kings and 15 inch wheels.
I would consider putting on some mild side skirts, a small grill in the bonnet above the turbine and possibly some aero style mirrors... What do people think of this? Mild enough to keep the stockish clean look or is it just too rice?
Also, what do people think of the look of just one racing bucket seat?

man your car wil look totally fucking JDM race style. not rice at all. so many "stock" looking ae86's around. make yours stand out.
1 bucket - yum (what brand is it?)
aero mirrors - yum (just ask Audioslaver, his look ace!)
sideskirts - only get toyota copies or jblood copies from ken streeter coz anything else looks rice on a stockish sprinter.
single vent near turbo could be ricey depending on what type of vent you use, maybe try one that looks like this? (obviously on the OTHER side )

Definately East bear mirror:
Some ideas:
Definately a bonnet vent like the one ae86drift (above) showed you, grafted into the bonnet and not some dodgy cosworth grille bought from autobahn or somethin

Mate, the guys have given you some good direction, but ultimately, it's up to you how you want to make your car look. That's what customization is all about, experessing your taste through your modifications.
._T_. on these forums can sort you out with a Jap-spec front lip and rear wings, or AE86T can fix you up with some more radical J-Blood stuff. Just look around at as many AE86 workshop or enthusiast websites as you can and you will quickly suss out exactly how you want your car to look
P.S. Des - Do you have a side view of that car you posted?

yeh just go for a toyota front lip and toyota side skirts. I can't believe how much better JDM ae86's look with just those two things...

I can also vouch for East Bear aero style mirrors. I put some brand newys on a few weeks ago.
Give the car a nice subtle improvment.
My car has all JDM body kit (including boot lid, no whale tale crap ) with aero mirrors and Jblood rear pods.
This is quite a nice look, but if the Jblood replicas were available when I was searching for kits I would of gone Jblood all round.

Hi, thanks for the feedback.
I know what you're saying about customisation being a personal thing, but you also have to live with the consequences if u have a spur of the moment decision and then have to drive around being laughed at (something ae86's are definately NOT about btw... we laugh at the others...)
Those east bear mirrors look sweet, anyone know where i can get some?
I haven't seen the sideskirts that someone has offered to get for me, but i should be getting pics soon, so i'll decide then... just want it to look a bit more tough. What was said about balancing skirts with a front lip is fair enough, but i'm going to be cutting a decent whole in the front bar to get decent flow to my front mount ... maybe that will look tough enough by itself.
A bride seat would be the ultimate... unheard enough to hav some jdm cred and the two tone ones look sweet!

Also, it'd be a decent project making up a grill like the one in the pic... give me something to do until i can take my car off the road at christmas. Be up for a respray tho, just got the bloody thing painted!
I'm guessing you'd have to work with maybe 1 or 2mm steel, but it'd be interesting trying to make those little bulge things that run either side of it.

Ok, another idea...
A custom silver mesh grill or the jdm levin one? Mesh could look tacky if not done properly, but the jdm one can look chunky and would be a restriction to radiator air flow (fmic would take everything coming through the front bar).

Dammit, i was hoping the mods wouldn't let you into the forums!
Anyway, my engine came yesterday, so its a good enough start... ill put the aestheitcs on hold for a while...
Who thinks it would be worhtwhile doing a very detailed write up of a gze turbo build? I've realised recently how much stuff is missed out in the other articles.

I dont want to say this cause it will ruin the thread, but Samwise, your a doodle head.
