1g-gte pistons

Whilst trolling around the internet, i've found that honda people use 1g-gte pistons as a replacement for B16a pistons?
http://www.superhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8 1501
If this were true, would this make b16a pistons an easier to source (new) alternative to the 1g-gte pistons? I don't know how hard either of these parts are to source, nor the authenticity or helpfulness of the above webpage, but thought i'd put it out there as food for thought.

Yeah, I've had a guy contact me about this before.
He was going to use the 1G ones 'coz they're stronger.
Opens a world of possibilities on aftermarket B16a forged pistons though!

Looks like they're $355 US a set for forged ones...times exchange rate, times 1.5, plus shipping....
I guestimate around $700 - 800 plus shipping costs?
Maybe custom forged items bought here are cheaper option, hence the lack of interest pursuing this means?
This is assuming of course that these b16a pistons don't fuck with the compression ratio, and are a viable alternative.

At an exchange rate of 74c, $355USD would be about $480AUD.
One thing is to figure out the clearances, if they're domed, etc, etc...

Have to remember that you'd have to buy 1.5 sets, b16a being a 4 cylinder.

You could always arrange a group buy of them... get the right numbers and your problem of excess pistons is solved! Of course buying 2 sets of pistons cant be bad... spare pistons

I can't see how that'd work considering the 1G has a 75mm bore and the B16A has an 81mm bore. The earlier Honda engine had 75mm bore pistons, but I can't see there being as much development on them to have a multitude of pistons available

That'd make sense, I was approached by a Civic driver.
But I sorta thought that they shared the Integra engine. I don't know much about Hondas...

The crappier D series motors from honda had 75mm cylinder bores. These motors are the "econo" style ones, and you should probably look elsewhere for pistons, unless you're buying upgraded forged ones from like crower, or JE, or something like that.
Do any of you guys have used 1g-gte pistons, or know where I can get them, or where I can get new 1g-gte pistons? Perfect upgrade for a turbo honda CRX.

Hmmm some1 dug up and old thread.
Wouldnt it be easier and cheaper to just buy another motor if you stuff it. By the time you get the forgies in you could have had 2 additional 1gs
Killa-X
It would prob be easier for you to source the pistons from a motor as they can be had dirt cheap in australia anyways. I myself am selling one for $100 and strange thing is, no1 wants it.
Cheers Adam
