Stolen- Rebuilt R154 Mon, 23 August 2004 08:50 Go to next message
Hi Guys,
Today my Garage at home was broken into and my Rebuilt R154 was stolen, I live on the NSW central coast. Just finished rebuilding it with parts I imported from the USA and Japan.
It had a CRS Bellhousing bolted to it to fit behind a 1uzfe.
I'm devastated.
Please If anyone hears about a hot R154 PM me.
I have spent much money and time on this Box for my project and was saving for a hipo clutch for it which I currently couldn't afford. Now I don't know what I'm gonna do.
Thanks

Yes it sucks really bad.
I have been trying to build a new vehicle on a tight budget as my last one was stolen uninsured (to modified to get cover)
I work hard to build my cars and look after my family and I always treat people with respect, how can someone disrespect people so easily.
I hate theives.
I'm hurtin.

Are car parts covered under house and contents insurance? I know that when my bike was stolen from school our house and contents policy. Same with the Zippo and sunnies that were nicked from out of my car.

Have a look into that I reckon. Smile

I don't have house hold insurance so I'm screwd there.
And yes only the gearbox was taken even though there is lots of other stuff in my garage.
It would seem that they were after it specifically, however no one new I had it as far as I know.
I have my doubts that the thief even knows what they have.
It was sitting in plain view on my bench, the casings had been bead blasted so it just looked brand new. Even had the shifter and yoke in it so they got the lot. Bellhousing is a new CRS Item for a 1uzfe so possibly that might pop up for sale somewhere.
At the moment I am very very angry and trying to keep it together. I just hope they dont come back for more as I fear I will kill someone, and there are no cars in jail.

Depends on the policy, but some do. Normally there's a fairly low limit of cover like $500, and often they may be excluded for theft if left in an unlocked shed.

Under our policy, if it is covered then the max they will pay will be $750 per item. So if it is worth more than $750 then you may have had some other stuff stolen at the same time. I've said it before (and it worked) so i'll say it again...organise a cruise within 2 surrounding suburbs and you probably have a 85-90% chance of finding it...coz it's probably locals or something who must've seen you working on it Twisted Evil

Good luck...i'll keep my ears out

I HAVE RECOVERED MY GEARBOX.
I got up yesterday and atarted ringing around all of the local mechanical workshops and gearbox specialists to leave my name and number with them incase someone bought my box in.
The second place I rang told me that a guy had brought my box in yesterday afternoon trying to sell it and by the way he did not have a clue what box it was.
One of the mechanics said he had a mate who might be interested and the guy left his name and number(what a dumbf#@#@wit)sorry about the language.
Once armed with his name and number I contacted a friend and we set up a buy.
No I did not contact the police, do you really think they gave a f@#k about my gearbox.
To cut a long story short I now have my gearbox back, and no i did not buy it back.
Lets just leave it there.

Why didnt you call the cops?

when you have to explain to some f*kstick theif that it's not a right to: retain the ability to walk unaided, hold your own dick while pissing or not need someone to wipe your arse... its wise for the police not to be involved.

.. and the law does tend to remove that in-their-face desire to show the link between cause (theft) and effect (toes removed with bolt cutters).

That's pure class Smile

A bit of a lesson there too - most theives are as thick as two short planks, so if your car bits get nicked do what Trev's done and ring local mechanics/wreckers/specialists in case they try to sell it.

Yeah, make sure his legs are broken so he can't walk... You also need to break all his fingers so he can't operate a lighter or box of matches. Evil or Very Mad Razz

Only just read this thread now. Fucking great that you got it back!

a 1UZ-R154 combination is nothing short of AWESOME. What clutch are you thinking of running? Mine is pretty good, but bloody expensive. (details on my website below)

Mycarhasposessedme, did you establish how the crim in question found out about your gearbox? Just curious, you say you had it beadblasted and that made me think "there's a way he coulda found you" I say this because some friends of mine booked a diving holiday and some housebreakers just "happened" to show up about three hours after they left and did their place over. The thing that makes me want to do something baaaaad to these pricks is the fact that they had to TRASH the place as well as nick all the good stuff. It certainly warms the dark places of my soul to know that you confronted this shithead and got your 'box back, I hope the bastards limping now! heh!heh!hehhh!

Purely random Benno they just got lucky.
No not near you Kristian I'm up the other end of the coast but apparently houshold garages are a big target for easy money in the world of low lifes.
