Have you tried high temp RTV?
I have used it on trucks and it works well and best of all its fairly cheap.

It is usually silicone.
it comes in a tube like tooth paste.
its all gooey, but hardens to a rubber like substance in a few hours.
Toyota and Honda use RTV for thier oil pan gaskets.

So what you are suggesting is that I use gasket goo instead of the little metal clips that attach to the brake pads? That sounds like some crazy bush-mechanic shit to me man..... I prefer to do things as they are supposed to be.
Anyways, you said you have parts lying around. Got any of these?

you know i have an old 77 checvy pick up, they did not have the little anti squeak clips back then.
No need to call me a bush mechanic hahahaha.
Have you tried getting new ones at toyota?
i can see if i can get them from my local dealer.
Did you want the fronts or the rears?

I've had a scrounge around, could find any. Try the clips out of a set of AE92 front callipers.

No problem Max, don't worry about trying to source some. I should be able to get some from somewhere a bit closer. Was just hoping someone local might have some lying around!
Thanks for searching anyways Clint, I think I'll go to toyota and see if they are common with any other cars such as the '92 you suggested.

If those are missing all it with do is make a clicking noise as the car is going backwards when the pads lift up in the callipers.
If your noise occours when you are going forward it will probably be something else.

Precisely. It makes a fucking annoying noise when I am reversing. Me no like "fucking annoying noise". Me want anti-rattle clips.

did you try those part numbers?
if they can't get them, Max is right about the RTV.
it's in an orange tube/bottle made by CRC, and called something like Brake Pad Anti Squeal.
it's good shit. even when i was at toyota, we used to use it...
'bush mechanic'...bah!

Old thread I know, but for anyone who wanted to know, the JDM AE86 rear caliper anti rattle springs are common with AE82, AE92 and ST162 models.
Thanks fuck they don't have to come from Japan!!!
