What Exhaust? Celica SX 1998

Hi,
I posted here a while back and got some good advice. I have a Celica SX (5S-FE) that I am really enjoying. I put a K&N Filter replacement in and have noticed that the revs are smother and easier especially between 3K and 5.5K - which was good.
Next step is an EXHAUST replacement. I want it to look and sound decent but the priority is performance increase. I have got all kinds of quotes but Performance Exhaust in Ringwood (VIC) seemed most knowledgable so far. Catback system $390 and some extractors (which he would have to make, apparently) for about $300. He suggested a 2.25 inch muffler.
Is this good? What should I be looking for?
Steve.

Sounds like a pretty decent price.
Is it mandrel bent? How big is the cat? How big is the muffler? Make sure they match the size of your piping.
2.25" might be a bit big of a 5S-FE, they only push out 103kW or so.

I will find that out later this week and post again.
Yes I suspected 2.25 might be a bit big. Another guy suggested 2 1/8th. The last thing I want to do is lose performance i dont care how nice the bigger sizes look!
What do you think would be suitable?
Steve.

I'm no expert on exhausts... My guess would be 1 and 7/8ths or 2".
FWIW, my car has a 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust with hi flow cat and straight through muffler... This is for a car that puts out 125kW at the wheels...

Yeah, something around 2" sounds good.
You don't wanna want to end up like some of these special people who put 3" straight-through mandrel exhausts on 2TG's now do ya?
