Suspension setup + TEMS.. making the rider harder?

Howdy All,
I am the owner of Lumpy's old MA70 Supra (waves ).
My previous 2 cars (1G-GTE Supra & R33 GTSt Skyline) both had coilovers in them, and well I am sort of addicted to the hard stance and handling they had
I am wanting to harden up the ride in the MA70 WITHOUT removing the TEMS system.. dont feel like spending over 1k on coilovers... at present it has lowered springs in it with TEMS shocks.
I will be doing the TEMS switch mod soon so it makes the damper on the hardest setting all the times, but my question then comes down to springs... I know this will sound n00bish but here goes...
Is the hardness of your ride effect by the shocks or springs normally ... or both?
I am "hoping" that I will just be able to put harder springs in the car to harden the ride (and improve handling)... is this possible.
I am thinking about either Whiteline or Koni springs.
Cheers
Rob

the springs will stiffen the ride.
most lowered springs are stiffer than the stock items, tho ne more than 2inches (i think) arnt that stiff eg. kings super lows... so keep that in mind

Hmm - the diff is a clutch pack type, so you can probably take it to a diff specialist to get the clutches repacked/shimmed to take up any slack that it has.
The other thing is that it has a 4.3:1 ratio - which is very good for acceleration etc, but if you're driving up and down the freeway every day it's not so good for economy. A jza70 torsen diff will have a better ratio (3.9:1) for economy plus torsen's are supposed to be a little better than clutch-pack lsd's.
Springs at the moment are very low at front (I'd say a 2" drop) and a little lower at the back (not sure how low). The bilstein struts from the jza70r that you've got as spares have standard springs on them if you need to compare.

Cool , so I would need a completely new diff if I was to go for the torsen?.. or will the centre bolt in (wishful thinking?) hehe.
Are there any other options?.. TRD?
tks for the help, u are a walking Supra bible I swear

You may be able to use a Torsen centre in the G285 housing - but that's just a guess - bearings etc may be slightly different sizes. If you got a complete torsen diff that it should bolt in (came in the jza70 so should be same).
There are TRD options, but my first port of call would be to get the current diff checked out (may be uni joins clunking too).
Cheers,
Caelum
