Couldn't access the pics, but I bought a '91/92 rear cut from Asian Auto spares (at Slack's creek) for $2200 2 years ago.
It came with all of the lights/decklid/spoiler etc, and to boot it had an LSD in it as well. Supposedly an option at the time.
Servicing stickers indicated that it had covered over 120,000km, but probably less than 130, as the stickers were quite profuse !!!

That certainly is coroded.
If it is from water damage I'd steer clear as it will most likely have damaged all of the electronis as well and you can't really just polish that off.
On the other hand gen3 half cust areahrd to find, how much are they asking for it?
I know I paid a butt load for mine as it was the only one I'd seen for a long time and it also had very low milage backed up by the odometer on the other half of the car that was at the wreckers as well.

Ahah, now I can see the pics.
It was either dunked, or the engine cover left open over winter.
Like Joshtix said, Gen3's are rare, but before I'd purchase, I'd want to pull a rocker cover and undo some of the elec connections and give it a thourough check.
Can they start it for you ?
Err on the side of caution, It'd be expensive if it turns out shit and they stuff you around on warranty

I was hoping i may be able to strip the engine down(as little as possible) and clean it if it's not full of mud or something.
I wouldn't buy it unless they can start it, but i suppose that doesn't eliminate every problem either.
They told me it had 56000Kms, not sure what they want for it. I know another gen3 rear cut is coming into the country soon and the last one this other place sold was $6000 all standard.
Could i just pull off some inlet pipes from intercooler into throttle body to see how dirty it is? What warranty do you usually get with these rear cuts?
Maybe i can argue him down to $3000 on the basis it is a piece of $%#!....haha. Can easily get a Gen2 for $2500 though(i already have a Gen2).
It just that they are so rare and i don't want to let it go, but then i don't want to be paying 10K to get it going.

I'll take two then!
Although I don't know the going rate of a gen 3 MR2 rear cut I haven't seen a gen3 ST205 cut go for less than $4000-4500 recently.

Rolin had one about 7 weeks ago. Engine and everything was perfect but the lights and bumper were farked. Engine is being fitted to a Sabre

Yes that is the one i'm talking about, they said it has a 2LSD and some other TRD part on it. If their last Gen3 standard went for 6K this would go for more due to the 2lsd i'd think. No way i'd consider it.

Who do you know that has actually sold a Gen3 for 3K, i know a place that said they would if they had one but it sounded like part of a sales pitch to me.
Maybe i should just sell my whole car and get a cheap Gen3 import, prob is they're not cheap.
