firewall modification... Tue, 24 August 2004 15:26 Go to next message
Hey,

Is it legal to modify the firewall of an 86 in QLD. I am planning to hopefully do a 20v conversion and jsut cutting the firewall would make it a lot easier and cheaper

Thanks...

By the way if anyone who has had experience with the conversion could help me i'd be very grateful..

*bump*

Come on someone must know?

By the way by asking someone for help with the conversion I just mean talking to about problemsor questions I have, not literally helping

Thanks Smile

You need to talk to a certified engineer about this; the opinions of a bunch of random car nuts on the internet means jack shit! I deal with John Kean (I have his contact details at home), give him a call and he'll tell you what you need to do to make it legal.

Or modify the dissy to run though the front cam cover , or you can use a decoder box and run a crank angle sensor in the dissy case so the firewall remains stock , then use cgi ignition . Lots of options .

Speak to Anthony Kellam (if you can get hold of him that is)... He apparently has got some gizmo that allows you to use the standard computer and run coil-packs off the CAS. And please do the cooling system properly - don't fabricate one of those abortion over-the-extractors-radiator pipes setups.

Then you don't need to worry about modifying your firewall Very Happy
