	| advise for a newby to Toyota please please | Wed, 25 August 2004 11:16 | | |
	| Greetings......
I have an XD V8 monster 'fun' car and now want a 'pocket rocket'.

If someone could answer my, I'm sure to bore some, basic questions....that would be great.

 KE.....what???? Is a '69 Corolla a KE something and a '72 Corolla a KE something else. Does KE mean a year/body shape?

Engines to suit. K3....K4???? what is in a '72 Corolla? what is the strongest? ( I definately want to Turbo it) Can you fuel inject an older engine. Heads???

Basically I want a 'Nana & Grandad' 70's or early 80's Corolla....No body kits or $5000 paint job....that goes like absolute 'stink'.

Also please advise on gearboxs and diffs?

Sorry to bore with what must be real basic questions for some of you.......any help greatly appreciated.

 lg

the T engines were japanese models but is a common swap here.

	| the S is the "family" of engine. this engine was released in the later model celicas and camrys
u can work out what family of engine is in what car by the cars model number

 ie: KE25 has a 3K engine
the TE27 is the same car but has a 2T engine

have a read of the 2 links posted by alchemist they should help

run through the link i posted again u will see the engine designation next to the picture of the car.

the easiest turbo engine to stick in a early corolla will be an engine called the 3T-GTE. Both that yellow and red corolla pictured above have these engines and are absolute beasts.

and now another link for you to get specifications of toyota engines.

lots of info to absorb but u will get the hang of it soon enuff

 have a good one
