icon4.gif  Hit in the car park! Wed, 25 August 2004 12:17 Go to next message
Hey All,

I parked my MA61 in my work carpark and got hit! Only scraping the paint and pushing the fender in, no damage to the flare though Confused

Now, if I find the culprit who hit the car, what rights do I have without a witness though I have matched the paint work of his car on my car and has damage from where they hit me? I don't have good insurance as they will cull me in trying to log an incident?

Cheers.

Hi,

I know the feeling. Some bitch pushed a shopping trolley into my car some months ago. I got a nice dent in the side from it. When I got to my car I was livid.

Every time I see someone abandon a trolley and leave it next to the car beside them, I shout out and give them shit. Lazy phucks.

A few days ago, I parked my wifes car in the shopping centre and as I was walking back to it I noticed some chick opened her door onto the car and chipped a bit of the paint off. I waited until she walked off and then I ran the keys down the side of her car - giving this thoughtless moll the longest, deepest scratch I could possibly do.

* Note to self... Do Not Park Next to river at Next Toymods meeting ... *

As for the parking issue I'd like to know this as well as I was filling my car with fuel, leaning on the car and I felt the car jolt. I turned around and looked, there was a car next to mine and the owner had just opened his door into my car, rather hard as well. He got in and closed the door as my head finally worked out what just happened, I yelled Oi! Are you right there. this guy didn't hear what I said so he opened his door straight into my car again. An then had the nerve to abuse me for parking too close to him, when I was there before him and He was illegally parked. Mad Mad Mad I have his number plate but what next?

Don't get me started on inconsiderate, uncoordinated F$%Ks Wits in car parks.

I was sitting in my previous corolla (which was straight as an arrow when I bought it with not many K's) which was parked perfectly. Tool pulls up beside me in an Excel opens the door and whack! Belts it straight into the side of my car, I yelled "Are you right!" The loser just looked and brushed me off and headed into the shop. I got out and went around to have a look at the dent and being one of the first dents (definitely the biggest someone had put in my car) I was fuming!

If he had at least acknowledged his fault I would have left it at that, but because he was a loser about it I kicked a dent in his drivers door and drove off. Fairs, fair.

I can appreciate a genuine accident, and how hard is it to say sorry??

It's because of people like this that we all can't have nice cars and keep them that way.....

Edit: I can appreciate Apollo's post (below) that this is a "coward" act, but on a number of other occassion in similar circumstances I have made greater efforts to "resolve" the issue with the person who created the problem, not once has it ended in anything better than them getting abusive and leaving in a hurry (over time you get over this type of stuff).

As for smacking the c$%t down, that would be awesome but I don't really want to be charged with assualt (nor have some psycho pull a knife or something).

On this particular incident looking back I probably would handle it differently now ( it was about 8 years ago or so, but I still wouldn't resort to belting them). Still it is only as slack as he was in creating the initial dent and walking off (like I said a sorry would have been sufficient), if I had not seen him do it I would have done nothing but be annoyed and he would have not given a toss about what he did.

I try to avoid confrontation/trouble/etc at all costs but sometimes under the wrong conditions there is a point where you just get over the whole "let it go/get walked all over thing".

Take it easy people.

Oh yeah and I always hunt down the "safe" car parks, it pisses off the girlfriend to no end having to search for them and then often walk further too!

N.B. I normally refrain from replying in these types of posts as people often judge harshly, which is fair enough. But unless people were there and know about the circumstance leading to and surrounding particular incidents don't judge too harshly.

Smack the cunt down is what you do next.

What's with all these coward pussies in here complaining but doing nothing except for lowlife scumbag tactics like keying cars and kicking in doors then driving off?

Sorry, but it just had to be said.

Personally, I park far away from the other lazy bastards when I go to shopping centers. Just drive away from the "main" park lot and you'll be bound to find a nice area with bugger all cars in it that are nicely spaced out.

If you didn't actually see her do it would you have still keyed her car? Confused

I would seriously kill you if you ran a key down my car and I hadn't done anything to yours. Mad

This is nice in theory but it just does not work in practice. I have lost count of the number of times I have parked in a distant near empty packing row, with no cars either side of me, only to come back and find two cars jammed either side of my doors while all the other spaces remain empty.

Some people need a major attitude re-adjustment.

No. I don't trash cars for the hell of it. I wouldn't like someone to do it to my car, so I certainly wouldn't do it to theirs. Like I said in my post - when someone ran a shopping trolley into my car - there's no proof of who did it, so other than get pissed off (which I was) there is very little I can do except fume and swear. I don't find the closest car and trash it.

It comes down to basic respect for other peoples property. Just because someone doesn't give a flying phuck about their car, doesn't mean I have to feel the same way.

Shit happens and accidents happen and, as annoying as that is, you live with it. But thoughtless cocks who don't give a damn deserve to get a dose of their medicine handed back to them. But, only if I witnessed their act. Otherwise, all I can do is jump about and swear.

So, you don't need to seriously, or even unseriously, kill me now - 'cos, without seeing it with my own eyes, I wouldn't touch another car for random retribution.

I don't approve of doing "damage" to other people's cars... You like your car, as do I, and it would seem logical that the less damage to cars in general the better.

In the situation you described where you saw the lazy bitch hit your car... Why didn't you tell her what you saw and get her to pay for the damage? It would seem logical that you want your car fixed out of the pocket of the person who damaged it. Confused

What you did doesn't fix your car and instead contributes to already outrageous insurance premiums for no gain to anyone.

I doubt she would link the keyed car to the damage she caused because it meant nothing to her dinting your car and some people don't realise how important a car is to others, like us.

If she refuses to pay for the damage call the cops and they will write a report and probably scare her into admitting it. You probably wont need to call the cops, just threaten it.

Oh, and for the record... I said I'd kill you if you touched my car without due cause. You didn't do this so I see no reason to end your life prematurely. Wink

Hi,

You make some valid points. But really, the cops aren't interested in this sort of minor stuff. Besides, how much is a chip of paint worth to fix? What if they say "get lost"? I go to the cops and they say "stop wasting our time with minor shit"?

I do try and park in safer places, but it isn't possible all the time. I guess I could let fly a volley of words at the culprit, but I could get into bigger trouble for that. You can't touch them physically 'cos you can be up for assault.

I guess I could take their number plate and tell them I'll be contacting my insurance company and let it go that way.

I treat other cars like I would like mine treated. I don't open doors into other cars. I don't push trolleys into them. I just wish that others would show the same respect - and it amazes me that so many don't, considering that after a house the car is probably the next most expensive item they own.

I'm a placcid, friendly bloke and very few things get my gander up - unfortunately, this is one of them.

However, I understand your point of view and you have given me food for thought.

LOL. Very Happy

Just imagine if someone saw you run a key down the side of a car... It would require the painting of up to 4 panels which can cost a shitload to fix. The cops would charge you for willfull damage to property and on top of a criminal record you would have to pay for their new paintjob out of your pocket while your car remains damaged. Shocked It is a very risky road to take just to blow off steam. Confused

I would rather follow Eddie Murphy's lead and "stick a banana in the tailpipe"... Their car is not damaged but they will sit there for ages trying to start it. They may end up calling roadside assistance for help and will be embarrassed when the piece of fruit is discovered. It will waste time and piss them off and you can leave with the knowledge you haven't wrecked anything. Evil or Very Mad

Heh, yea. I have bets that I'll have either a 4wd on each side of me, or a 4wd and a van on each side of me when I return to what was previously a totally empty carpark. It seems the dickheads need my car as a guide to park by or something.

But anyway, a couple more have mentioned about people not wanting to deal with it, etc, just threaten them that you'll call the cops with a hit and run. Technically it is.

That's awesome. Very Happy Bet that got the wanker's attention and stopped him from walking away. Plus replacing a window is much easier than having to fix keyed panels. Wink
