id be checking the wastegate actuator hose one that goes from the turbo to the wastegate ,small piece of usually black colour hose if its come undone the car will have unlimited boost , not a good thing , a good thing if i u want to go fast but not for long as ur hg will be blown very soon
that what im thinking anyway couldbe something else

nope they're fine.. i only had the turbos off a few weeks back. Also,s the boost didn't rise at all.. it stayed the same as before... so its not a boost issue.. i'm thinking along the lines of fuel or ignition which was somehow changed briefly when the hose popped off.

anyway.. i've got silicon hose on most of my vaccum pipes.. recently the one that feeds the stock boost gauge (jza70) and also my after market boost gauge has been blowing off from the manifold.
Anyway, the same thing happened tonight, but this time i was under full boost... suddenly the car lurched forward with far far more power than it normally has.

how can you tell its not spiking more boost if the boost gauge hose is the one blowing off?

cause i'm running borderline fuel cut boost as standard.. ie just under 15psi... i'd hit fuelcut if i was suddenly spiking when the hose blew off.
Besides.. i cant see why a vacuum pipe on the inlet manifold coming off would produce more boost... i def think its an igntion or fuelling issue.. but i'm open to suggestions

following on....
the car is DEFINATELY quicker when this pipe has blown off...
can anyone think why?? Even guesses are welcome at this point
The car has always been sluggish.. now it seems like its as it should be.. the only thing i can think of is that now the manifold pressure has a 'leak' from the output pipe that its somehow doing something to the fuelling..
anyone else?
Cheers

It was probably the fuel pressure regulator vaccuum line (or attached to it). Which uses boost to control a rise in fuel pressure. If it were to blow off the fuel pressure would return to base pressure (much less) resulting in a lean condition, and (dangerously) more power.

hmmm the car is DEFINATELY quicker when this pipe is off.. but i've also noticed that it feeds some sort of solenoid on the bulkhead.. doesn anyone know what this is? perhaps some sort of vacuum advance for the ignition?
If you have a look on your 1J you'll see what i mean..

its one of the pipes that feeds this whole arrangement.. what does all this lot do?

the heater solenoid can affect the fuelling? never knew
okay cheers.. i've been meaning to fit an SAFC for a while now.. guess its a good excuse to get round to it..

Indeed it can on a 1JZ - I found out the hard way recently. After 45mins of retuning my ECU for recent mods and just finishing off some high boost runs, the hose leading to the Heater Tap VSV valve blew off.
The tuner refitted it but failed to notice the missing 1-way check valve which had falled off, so under boost the fuel pressure regulator was being bled off by the VSV valve - they share a common chamber inside the intake manifold.
The result was a leaning off of the A/F ratio by about 1-2 points above 4000rpm and resultant pinging.
Hours of head scrathing and failed retuning and subsequent searching for a vacuum/boost loss resulted in locating the 1-way check valve sitting on the engine mount!!
As soon as it was re-fitted, AFRs retuned back to normal and again the ignition/fuel maps were retuned...cables ties are your friend!
