FUCK!!!

Looks like the 1JZGTE conversion just isnt gonna happen...
Yes i am fucked off...
I went down to the importer/wrecker who wass doing the work and every time the price was going up, so i have decided to be done with it and fuck the whole idea off as this guy was fucking me around and it was gonna end up costing me over $3G's which is still cheap i know but a fair jump up from the intial $1200-$1500 quote which i could afford, this I cant...
So looks like she will be going back to the 1G, ill prolly sell her in the next few months and buy something else anyway, possibly a celsior?
Who knows...

I got told it wouldn't cost me more than $1500 MAXIMUM, yeah fucken right...
I have to say when i think about it im not as cut up as i really should be or the thread title suggests but you live and learn...
Now i have to see how much boost i can squeeze out of a 1GGTE before it goes bang!

I budgeted for about $1700-$2000
V8_MA61 - THis is a special scenario as my 1GGTE was fucked under warranty so there were certain things i didnt have to pay for i.e. most of the labour, and i was getting the motor and gearbox at cost price-the cost of a 1GGTE motor and Box

nah is cool, i guess now i can look into another project, i am seriously considering either a 1GGTE, 1JZGTE or 1UZFE in the SlyLux atm as i dont need the car on the road as my car is nearly finished...
One of my mates has suggested a Carby Fed 340 Chrysler Stroker motor or a 350 chev...
I am totally undecided at this point

Really do a search dude as this has been covered in great detail. Essentially it involves a 2JZ block being bolted to a 1JZ head. Its merits over an entire 2JZ are questionable. It evolved from people in Japan blowing up their 1JZ bottom ends. The 2JZ bottom end is the same price from Toyota as the 1JZ...wouldn't you go for the extra 500cc?

x5 the budget there
total cost of a converison, done properly and not by urself will be at least 8k
my conversion was 10 000 dollars
i initially budgeted 7k for a 1jz auto with stock cooler
what i got is in my sig and cost me 10k in the end(mainly because of bigger cooler, boost controller and manual gearbox and the like
dont trust anything work shops say.. i got quoted 5k drive in, drive out for a 1j conversion from 1 workshop

Revs hard? WTF are you on? The difference in it revving is basically going to be the same as a 2JZ! Its the bottom end being square on a 2JZ (and 1.5JZ) that makes it not rev as hard as a 1JZ!

I was under the impression that with the top end of the 1JZ it would be capable of revving very hard as it becomes a shorter stroke motor, is this wrong??
Or does the different head drop the compression allowing the motor to handle more boost??

Its basically a 2JZGTE. The differences in the heads between the 2JZ and the 1JZ aren't going to make a huge difference, and whether its beneficial is a moot point.
Because you're using a 2JZGTE bottom end, the bore and stroke are the same as a 2JZ, and if there is any difference in capacity it'd be the minute differences in the combustion chamber.
The only major benefit of a 1.5JZ is making a 1JZ bigger

Same shit different smell. 1JZ and 2JZ bottom end cost the same in Japan, so it's a cheap way to increase capacity

For starters i dont like rotaries...cos they are unreliable and ghey, if i want a lawnmower then I will drive one at least it would be useful
I didnt start this thread on 1.5JZ vs 2JZ you people did, i just started this thread to vent some frustration on the fact that im not getting a 1JZ anymore
Theres no need to take my lack of knowledge on a subject that is fairly new to me and throw it back in my face...
If you dont like what is written dont fucken read it, how difficult is that?

Nah, its a 161 with a 149 head. Revs like hell because the 161 is a square engine and the 149 head boosts compression for more powah!

Nah, its a 161 with a 149 head. Revs like hell because the 161 is a square engine and the 149 head boosts compression for more powah!
People were just keen to point out your mistakes (mistake that may mislead others) - it's a forum, what did you expect?

Don't TOUCH the 202 if you wanna make any power at all!! Even if you replace every singly moving component with something decent, put on an aluminium yella-terra head, AND get it to rev past 6,000rpm (a challenge in itself) you're STILL probably going to get block-twist, and grab either No.2 or No.5 Piston.
I have read of succesful Turbo installs on Red 186's and 202's, but really.....why bother?

Although in doing this you will have to cut a faily large hole in the firewall to fit the back of the motor so its probably not worth it...
