Group B-rally cars were the ancestors of modern WRC cars. One of the best group-B cars was the Peugeot 205 T16.

About them spectators. Hearsay is that especially in Italy, Spain and Portugal spectators tried to touch a rally car that went past them. That bit is true for sure, but I've heard unconfirmed stories on rally mechanics finding bits of flesh (= fingers) at car's air intakes. Seems like some had their hands tucked too far towards the car.
I guess that could in theory be possible. Intake edges are somewhat sharp, and do have cutting properties on flesh if it's travelling at 180kmh.
