hey looking to find out how much an LSD is to fit a '75 Celica. not looking to buy at the moment, but as soon as funds permit i will. what LSD's will fit? also how easy and how much $$$ is it to fit a turbo Evil or Very Mad running low boost (ie. no intercooler) on my 2T engine? what needs to be done to acheive this?

I belive it would be easier/cheaper to buy and fit a 2tgeu instead of trying to fit a turbo to your 2T! Smile

Sorry, cant help with the LSD Crying or Very Sad

Don't waste your money turbocharging a 2T, you'll have to fabricate custom everything and it will cost a lot of money for a mediocre result. You're much better off swapping in a 3T-GTE or something, it has everything you need and it's almost a bolt-in swap.

As for LSD, there's nothing readily available for old Celicas. You can still get TRD LSD centres apparently, but you'd have to sell a kidney to afford one. Apart from that your only real option is a complete rear end swap, which obviously isn't that easy or cheap either. Sad

i live in Mackay and cannot find any 2tgeu's at all the only celica engines i can find r the 18r series. havent looked for a 3t though. how much do these engines cost plus fitting? is the 2tgeu turbo or just easily turboed? does any1 know where i can get either of these engines?

2T-GEU is not turbo, but it does respond fairly well to turbocharging if done right. A 3T-GTE turbo manifold will bolt on, but you won't be able to run much boost with the factory engine management.

If we're talking about normal street use (not track driving), why not optimise rear live axle suspension pick-up points?
Suspension engineering books are full of useful info. One book out there will explain why right rear wheel is the one lacking traction and spinning, and what to do about it.

According to books it's an absolute fact that two black rubbery smoking marks from hard acceleration can be had without LSD, if the axle suspension has been reworked. They do however state that to work well at drag racing but axle hopping/studder can be possible under very hard braking. That's why not recommended for track racing.

Same rool applies there anyhow. If you bolt on an LSD to live rear axle car that used to have severe right rear spinning - the situation will not be perfect with LSD installed. The right rear wheel still has less grip than left wheel.

It's far better to have weight close to 50/50 rather than 10/90 even if you have LSD installed.

-A.

ok well, on a trip to rockhampton from mackay the engine overheated something terrible and is now FUCKED so with a lot of thought and regret i am going to scrap the car (go to the 'parts for sale') to get as much money out of it and buy a new car. the reason being is that i have spent $2000 and have gotten noware with the car + it has a lot of rust + i dont have the time\money\paitence to work on it any more. i am very dissapointed?depressed?(u know what i mean) with having to sell the car as it is an awesome car but...

my next car hasto be RWD around the same if not more power than the celica and no more than $3000. any ideas?

thanks for all ur help

About the only RWD car I can think of in that price range with reasonable power and which won't be a totally clapped out shit-tin, is an older Falcon or Commodore...

Hey I'm not recommending them as a good car (I'd never buy one), but given the criteria I couldn't think of anything else! $3k doesn't get you much.

I'm surprised you didn't say Mk2 Supra Norbie. You can get one for decent prices with not must rust...if you spend your time and go look for them!

I thought of that, but for $3k you'd have to be pretty lucky to find one in good shape. Still, like you say there are bargains to be had if you look hard enough!
