a bit of an update...

1jzgte with R154 transplant finished, Imperi Mesh 18x8 and 18x9's added, JIC coilovers removed and replaced with standard struts with RSR springs.
About to install the nissan 4-pot brakes on the front.
Still have the ARE cooler and exhaust to fit.

So, does it do a skid? Razz

Super clean jason. Why'd you ditch the JIC coilovers? Too stiff?

heatshield stuff is from Clarks Rubber designed for engine bay insulation etc.

The JIC's came out as they were way too stiff for the street and the car's now my daily driver. Importbitz sourced me some externally adjustable KYB's to suit the car from Japan so they'll be going in when they arrive.

hey jason!

nice to see the chaser is finished! I'll have to pop around some time and see how it goes!

The corona is far from being finished, but the 1g-gte should be in, in a week or two from now Smile

Awesome ride mate Smile

now with no work, i'm even more slacker!

and i'm sure it goes more than a "bit" better, the 1g-gte really isn't enough to move these beasts!

Hey mate,
Nice car Smile

Just wondering where you got the idea for that air box. My mate Jeff did it on his JZZ30 about a month ago and posted the results on ALSC. Since then I have seen them popping up all over the place. Not surprising considering it costs about $15 and dropped inlet temps by around 10deg IIRC.

Re: My JZX81 Chaser - Updated Wed, 16 March 2005 23:40 Go to previous messageGo to next message
I've had the box idea since January when I put the motor in, I initially made one to suit another large pod I have, and on that box I made a pattern out of cardboard, then transferred it to the heatshield and cut it out. I bevelled the seams where the box joined with 45deg angles and glued them together with sikaflex. That box hasn't made it into the car yet as I need an adapter fabricated to use the larger pod. I saw Jeff's Ziptie idea and thought that would be a good solution to use temporarily with the leftover material I had until I get the pod adapter made. The ziptie method was much easier and a whole lot cleaner.

Good stuff mate Smile

Glad to see it worked out.

I saw a pic of your car on the VIP site from the skidpan day and was very interested at that stage as I love the chasers. I was just hoping it wasn’t a diesel!

i looked and looked for a GX81 manual around the time i was looking to import a car, and couldnt either mind a manual, or the right car (found a couple of FLOGGED manuals).

I went for the Crown instead... a little less sport, but unique nonetheless Very Happy

Now to find me a RARE MS137 manual pedal box and clutch setup Evil or Very Mad

Just called 'heatshield' I'm gathering?

Did the engineers give you any shit about the pod not being boxed? Or does the heatshield setup count as a 'box'?

just had some work done to the car, fitted a custom ARE fronmount, piping, 3" exhaust from turbo's, and intake pipe with a bigger filter. Also put an emanage in temporarily to take out some fuel in the top end. Had it dyno'd this morning and I'm happy with the result for now. 195kw ATW with 10.9psi

Craig at Extreme Custom Engineering did the pipework and cooler end tank mods, I had a crack at the AFR tuning myself. Wasn't too bad as the emanage is so easy to tune, only spent 30 mins on the dyno in total.

Pipework looks good. How big is the inlet on that air filter?

That is good power at only 10.9psi too Smile

So you will be hitting the strip again soon in the quest for a 12? Razz

inlet is 6" on the filter, I'll be heading back out to get into the 13's with some better rubber in a couple of weeks.

Previous best was a 14.377@97MPH with 2.15 60ft, I've got an extra 40kw ATW now so hopefully will get a 13

I thought that was a bloody big air filter!

With a similar 60ft I am predicting a 13.4@104mph. Very Happy

Hey, thats almost identical to my times.
Like, withing 5/100ths of a second, same speed and 60ft.

Haha.

EDIT:

Run #1 - 14.353 @ 97.71
Run #2 - 14.301 @ 96.25
Run #3 - 14.360 @ 96.67
Run #4 - 14.328 @ 97.61

And 2.2-2.3 sec 60fts.

I'm supposed to have 180rwkw though.

Anyhoo, enough of blowing my horn, tuff car!
