I'm pretty sure the 4agze starter is the same as the 4age!
If you have a multimeter you can measure the volts on the starters solenoid. You'll need 2 people to do this. Get someone to engage the starter and then measure the volts on the starters solenoid. Alternatively you can get a jumper lead and put it on the positive terminal of the battery and put the other end to the terminal of the starters solenoid! If that works you've got problems with the ignition!

if your running the 4agze lsd gearbox then i think there different starter motors, if its only doing one click, check the battery, if u have nothing to check it with, turn the headlights on and highbeam, then try and start it, if the lights dim lots then i think the battery is flat normally if its the starter motor it will click more
also if it is the starter, hit it with a hammer or a metal pole on the starter and that works sometimes, make sure u hit the solinoid tho, dont bash it, just hit it alittle

Troyboy
The starter motors for a 4age and 4agze are different. The 4agze starter motor has a different gearing, though you may still be able to bolt in a 4age one in.
Yeah try giving it a bit of a tap. The starter motor is located under the intake manifold, at the back of the engine, firewall side.

Im sure if they are not the same, they are interchangeable. When i change motor fom a 4age to a 4agze there was no change in starter motor

Yeah, i had this same prob with my car when i first bought it. If would start sometimes, but others it would just make a click click click noise. really annoying. i had to clutch it quite a few times till it got fixed. i think all the mechanic did was gave me a new battery. starter motor was alright.
battery cost me $80. not to mention the other $400 i had to spend on that service.....
ahh well, its alright, she's running good now. except for the gearbox..which they didn't look at. makes a crunch when chaning back down gears. synchros or something? what yas reckon? before i asked, got suggestions like change gearbox fluid..
sorry to take over the thread... :/
