1G (GZE) Flywheel/clutch combo question Mon, 30 August 2004 02:31 Go to next message
I just picekd up a 3T-GTE flywheel for my 1ggze engine and happily it fits.

I thought my hilux (4x4) clutch would fit, but it is too big (much greater diameter than that of the flywheel).

I have been told that people use the hilux clutch in this application, so I am wondering what is going on here, maybe I am wrong.

Is there a flywheel with a greater diamter for the 1GGZE engine that fits with the hilux clutch?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Tonka.

I used a 1JZ-GTE pressure plate with my hilux clutch plate.

Alls u gotta do, is drill out some of the locating pin holes a tiny bit so they slide together properly!

As for flywheels, the 18RG ones are good

This was all for my 1GGTE. not to sure if its identical to the 1GGZE but i would imagine so.

Well I measured everything and came up with these rough measurments.

Keep in mind this is for a 1ggze engine.

3T-GTE flywheel: Pin to Pin 235mm
Clutch surface 205mm

Hilux Clutch: Pin to Pin 265mm
clutch surface 225mm

Give or take a mm, I only measured em quickly.

Cheers

Tonka.

I should add, I rather keep the hilux clutch and pressure plate as I prefer the larger size, so its now a matter of what flywheel.

The 3T GTE clutch has a 225mm dia clutch face.
Seems that the Aus domestic 3T-C must take a smaller clutch.

Interesting, well I was told this was a 3T GTE flywheel, perhaps they were mistaken or I was had. Sad

3T-GTE flywheel: Clutch surface 205mm

This is what threw me before mate, I always thought that a 3T-GTE flywheel was bigger than this and the clutch to suit this is 224/5mm.

I hate to say it, but I think you have been sold a 3T-C flywheel.
Crying or Very Sad Crying or Very Sad Crying or Very Sad

Going back to what Dom said above, stirred the memory a bit, and IIRC the early 1G flywheels had a 224mm clutch while the later (gen 3 1G-GTE's) use a 236mm clutch, and its this flywheel you need to mate up to your existing Hilux set-up.

Course - you know all this by now........
