oil catch can hose type? Mon, 30 August 2004 02:48 Go to next message

Needed some 16mm hose to hook-up my new oil/air seperator on the 1JZ on the weekend. Couldn't really afford (or find in red, for that matter) pretty silicon hose, so I wne with normal old heater hose. I figured that if it can handle boiling hot water, it would handle a bit of warm air with a very fine oil mist.

But the guy at the local generic auto parts place says NO, I need special oil resistanr hose and that heater hose will disintegrate within a few weeks. \

What do you smart folks reckon?

Yup, not all rubber hose is hydrocarbon-resistant. Get yourself some proper oil hose, but that doesn't mean you have to get the pretty silicon stuff.
