What steel for flywheel?

Must be cheapish and easily available.
I was thinking Fe80.

Use a piece of 4140-HTSR chrome-moly low alloy (HTSR = heat-treated, stress-relieved), ring gears are usually 1040-1050 medium carbon steel. Press the ring gear on, then TIG weld a few stripes to make sure it stays put...

Thanks! 4140 sounds like American standard number for that steel. If so do you know international standard number?
About ring gear, I was going to use the original one. Just install it the way you described.

You wont need to know any other number cause anyone you buy a billet from will know what 4140 or 4130 etc is.

I will say again, whatever material you get (4140!!!), make sure you specify that it must be HEAT TREATED STRESS RELIEVED material.
