Piggyback computers for Toyota ECU

Has anyone done this so they can get tunability?
With the engine transplant I'm thinking about, and the possibility of running it on LPG injection, I'm thinking about running these injectors with the standard computer, just with the injector pulse changed to suit the LPG.

The 'controller' that comes with the LPG kit already has this facility - it's part of the initial setup. It goes between the factory ECU and the injectors, to match impedance, as well as allow the same sized injectors to be used on different engines.

Ah ha.
I've been meaning to call you to discuss this topic.
Any ideas when you might be home this week or weekend.

You will also need to modify the spark timing. It will run like an absolute pig otherwise.

Isn't that run by the ECU as well?
I'll be using a late, ie 97-, Camry motor, or preferably, a Kluger motor which has multi coil packs.

A lot of the piggy back type compters are fuel only.
Not being a hugely knowledgeable bloke when it comes to lpg, I only know that it will be really cranky if you don't modify the spark from the petrol map. I think it is due to the octane rating being higher, it burns slower, hence needing more advance or something. I am sure someone else can fill you in on the theory. I've only had one LPG car and never liked it enough to want to look into how/why it works.

The main reason I'm interested is that my work ute is an LPG only vehicle, and apart from running out of fuel on Sunday arvo & needing to be towed to the nearest servo instead of simply refilling with a jerry can, it runs great, & costs the same to run as the diesel Caldina, just has 3 times the power

Yeah, noticed the time when you replied.
I start work at 7:30am, so I'm usually in bed by 10, but I've got tomorrow off, so I'll try ringing you tonight.
