We used to have 1990 Pajero and just before we sold it we finally figured one of the buttons under the steering wheel .Though ours was a petrol model the switch acted like a turbo timer, allowing you to press take the keys out and walk away whilst it idles down after hard driving, must off been for the turbo diesal models but just carried across the range.
Also the emmission stickers for my corona are for a 2sc engine when it clearly has a 22re under the bonnet yet the engine number matches that on the compliance papers ie the engine hasn't been changed.
every 2002 model hilux i've driven(about 15 so far...my work has over 40 in south east queensland ) has a tendancy to make a grinding noise when breaking and turning right at the same time
there are a few otehr shit points with that model hilux too, they're VERY squeeky
not really impressed with it...the same era rodeo's however...top marks
