RAxx heater causing backcharge

Just seeing if anyone has had an RAxx celica that has had this problem. If i put on the heater - the charge light begins come on. I guessing a bad earth??? Any ideas or suggestions would be great.

mine has that too!
except if i put the fan on past 2
no idea what it is from tho sorry would like to know though. mine also only does it when the parkers/lights are on.

Either a faulty wire somehwere, or your charging system sucks.
Check the connections on the alternator
Check the connections on the battery
And the earth to the block.

im thinking a short somewhere near the switches or something because it has happened with 2 engines with 2 separate alt etc.
the charge light doesnt come on very much at all it probably ocmes on during the day but i can only notice it during the night because its so dull

Yeah I vote bad earth too. It's easy enough to check if the charging system is the problem though, just put a multimeter on the battery while the engine is running and heater is on; as long as the voltage is well over 12v (ideally more like 13.5v) it's all good.

I recently had electrical problems with my RA28. My charge light would come on when I turned the fan on and all my gauges were reading incorrectly. I found the problem to be an old rusty fuse in the fuse box which fed the whole dash.
Try all the fuses and make sure they are firmly in place as well.
