18R-G head on a 20/22R. Thu, 02 September 2004 08:50 Go to next message
okay, haven't done this, just asking if anyone can tell me you can do it. the reason i'm asking is, i figured it would a lot easier and cheaper to put more into the combustion chamber to get good compression, rather than trying to get 18R-G pistons and put them in an 18R. i can get the head for free, i can get a 22R pretty easily, i just wanted to know of any complications that there may be doing it. theis engine would be going in a TA22, do i need anything else expect for engine parts? do i need a different crossmember, please say no, and that there's another way. thanks, joe.

i don't have an 18R-G, and have no hope in hell of getting one, certainly not as cheap as a 22r anyway. i am right in presuming that 18r-g pistons have big domes to get compression right? that's why i need to pump lots into a smaller combustion chamber. why can't it be done? do they have different water holes, different oil holes or different head bolt location or what? is it possible to overcome the problem??????

Cheap and proper often don't go together. I think a 2T-G for your TA22 would be relatively 'cheap', if even that is too expensive maybe you should consider not playing with the TA22 at all?

just because it's cheap doesn't mean it's no good! and it would be a waste of a good head, anyway it was just an idea, one of a couple. if we can't do that, i'll do what i was gonna do before. it's not my car, it's my mate's.
