HELP ME FIND A SMASH REPAIRER!!! Mon, 06 September 2004 05:54 Go to next message
Hey guys, I am having a lot of trouble finding a smash repairer to come and look at the Sprinter, I have rung all the local guys that do private work and they all said they are too busy (At least a month before they can do anything to my car) and on top of that, none of them will come and look at the car (I just want someone to come out{because it is not registered or insured}, look at the Sprinter, tell me what parts they can fix, and what parts need replacing, let me organise the parts, and then get it towed to them for the repairs.) I would be happy to tow it somewhere for quoting, but then my baby will have to sit around there for even longer while I organise the parts, and then every repairer I have spoken to says they are booked up for about a month (every one in Castle Hill is crashing lately!) I was really hoping to get her back on the road before I start my HSC or at most before I head off to schoolies, but now looks like she won't be back and on the road till close to christmas! Crying or Very Sad
Does anyone here know of a smash repairer around the Castle Hill area who can come and quote the car at my house? Or at least a really cheap towing company so I can tow the car there, get the quote and parts list, and then get it towed back home?
Where might I find a car trailer, how much would 1 days hire be for that?
Cheers for any help!

dude, if i were you, i'd just get a few photos of the car, every angle and specific shots of where it is bent and smashed, bring it to multiple smash repairers and eask each one for a quote and book it in to the right one that can do it.

Then when you have sorted all parts, get a cover note from insurance company so you are covered for a certain period of time and drive the car out one early morning to the smash repairers carefully either with a mate closely following behind or just carefully by yourself going back streets.

No smash repairer will have the time to go anywhere, so you gotta take the matter into your own hands.

a towie?? costed me $240 for a tow from Castle Hill to my place when it was recovered. And i actually talked him down and payed cash for it Rolling Eyes

you got PM

your asking way too much from them.

think, if u were a smash repairer at your workshop and someone rang and asked u to waste up to 3 hours of your day to drive to their house to look at a car, would u do it?

i mean seriously Rolling Eyes

Hire a car tow truck or a car trailer (better idea) and drive it around to them, you'll be pushing your luck to get them to come out.

JCMF: Correct.
Rob_RA40: Correct.

Phone rings at workshop.
High school kid: "Hi, I know you're booked out with work for 1 month in advance, but I want you to take an afternoon out of the shop to come and do a quote for fixing my Ay-Eee-Aight-Six Sprinter please."
Workshop guy: <<Looks at full workshop of cars on which he can earn $200/hour>> <<Looks outside at another tow truck arrive with new job for quoting at his door>>
Workshop guy: <<hangs up phone, laughs hard, goes tells his boys, everyone laughs hard, makes toss-toss and cock-sucking motions and goes back to work making $100/hr in the shop>>

Seriously, there are so many young guys out there calling speed shops tossing off about buying stuff they actually can't afford or (even more tragic) hanging out on a Toyota web forum asking for pics or everything which is for sale to do with a Sprinter with no intention to buy. You could call those people MrF_ools or something I guess.

1 day car trailer hire = $50. Tow it yourself. Take it to as many shops as you can in that day, like start at seriously 8am. Dump it at the best shop you've found by 4pm.

Until you rock up at the shop with the car for real and money in your hand you're just another tosser to the panel beater, you've got to make the effort to prove differently. Do you really expect him to run around, forgo earning money to see a car which he may not be able to take on or you may not decide to give to him? Do you expect him to service your tool too?

Give Adam at Windsor Automotoive body works. He is a club sponsor and really looks after us.

As someone said above take some pics and go out and show him.

he may be busy but the job will be worth the wait.

Have alook at Steve (wagonist)'s Caldina's finished pics. (when they get put up) I was the first car on the scene when that incident occured and have seen some progress shots. And you want to See adam.

Details are in the sponsors area of the site.
