HELP! ALTERNATOR IDENTIFICATION! Mon, 06 September 2004 06:02 Go to next message
I got a new alternator for my v8 Given to me on the weekend...i have NFI what its off though. Its a mitsubishi electric co one...so it should be off a magna or something...tho i do remember mitsubishi alternators being on EB falcons etc.

Anyway its a 100amp jobby - obviously something late model. Anyone on there own a late model magna?

The pulley that was on it originally was a 4/5 ribbed one - looked like maybe a serpentine belt.

It is only the plug im after - where i can get one from depends on what car its off!

It looks similar to the EB/ED 6cyl falcon alternator and I would think that a plug from one of these would do the job.

yeah its similar to the one on an EB, but i dont think ebs wouldve had a 100A alternator? Espec if my other bosch one only was 70A

Oh and EB's were the old single v belt from memory. At least the bosch ones. Perhaps the mitsu ones are different, i dont know.

Go to pick n payless and "aquire" a plug of an ED 6 cyl. You will probably find it will fit.
By the way if you are modifying everything to fit it I would use a bosch alt instead. I think VT commodores had 100A ones and they are easier and cheaper to repair in the future.

I got it for FREE. therefore i want to use it.
If something is wrong, it'll cost me less to fix it than buy a new VT one. Plus i Dont want the serpentine belt, i want the single v one.

No worries. It was just a suggestion as parts for those can be pricey. You could use any type of pulley on the VT alt as well.
Anyway a plug off an ED 6cyl should get you out of trouble Smile.
