accidentally beat MY02 and SW20 - go figure...
|
Mon, 06 September 2004 07:16
|
|
sitting in the middle lane of paramatta road this afternoon, quater punder (with chilli!) in hand, and OJ balanced in lap, im sitting in poll position at a red light.
completely oblivious to whats going on around me, the lights turn green, and with burger in hand, i shift into first and slowly pull away. meanwhile, ive totally missed the fact that on either side of me an MY02 and an SW20 have lined up to race... its only when the light goes green that i notice theres a lot of exhaust noise around, and see these two scooting past me on both sides of my car.
i think 'fuck it' and mash the pedal, somehow managed to grab second gear, still holding the burger and balancing the OJ.
i wiped the mr2 off the map, caught the rex, and then had to slow down for trafic. slowed up, and rex driver was just looking a me (burger now balanced on steering wheel) with this wonderous look of "where the fuck did you come from"
shit tin racing team of death triumphs again
hehehe....

NICE WORK
What car have u got and engine wise???
Is there any legalities to eating in the car? coz i do it all the time.. Like if its legal for people to smoke while driving i don't see how eating should be illegal. once again bloody good effort...
Was the SW20 just NA?

It's illegal to consume food/drink and drive?
Mate of mine was driving along with a ginger beer in hand... but had the ginger bit covered up by his fingers, so it just said BEER!
Cops drove up next to him and looked across, mate looks back at them, smiles and lifts his finger off showing the "ginger" bit

You must have 2 hand on the wheel at all possible times
Obviously when doing things such as changing gear, its not possible

Does a few fingers count as a hand? I could hold a burger with two fingers and a thumb, keeping two fingers on the wheel...
Anyway, I think the cops would bust me for having a cool car before they bust me for having one hand on the wheel

are you SURE its illegal to drink/eat and drive?
phones are illegal because they're distracting
smoking isn't illegal so why would eating a cheeseburger be illegal?

I think you'll find that using the mobile phones is illegal because it keeps one of your hands off the wheel for an extended period.
To be in control of a vehicle you must have both hands on the wheel, whenever is possible.
ie, changing gears, using wiper/indicators/radio if acceptable because its only for a short period of time.

Ahhhh ok. That's pretty stupid because that's pretty hard to police. How can they catch you? Would they bother? I know I just leave my right hand hanging out the window half the time, and when there have been cops they've said nothing.
My wheel alignment is shocking so I have to constantly adjust the steering wheel to go straight because it keeps pulling to one side so it's actually easier for me to do it with one hand. It also leaves my other hand free to change cd/drink/smoke.
