Hey, if anyone finds anything like this - please let me know.
I've got a whole service history and owners' manual for a '95 JZX90 that is driving me nuts looking at the cartoons and guessing what it might say.
cheers,
Justin

It is hard to understand what you mean but my guess would be something to do with a heater i can't remember exactly though as it has been a while since i had a gz20.

That would be the heat sensor in your catalytic converter telling you the cat has melted and it's time to get a new one.

This little Exhaust overheat light also come on when your alternator is not charging. Should be accompanied by other Jap writing.

I had the same light come on in mine but it just turned out to be dirty contacts, however Norbs was on the money, as there is a temperature sensor in the catalytic convertor, mine is now tucked up away due to my lack of a cat convertor

long story short, I picked up a 3" mandrel bent stainless steel exhaust with 5 inch cannon muffler for $200 with a couple of minor dents in it, it was off a GA70 supra so it fit alright but it was just 3 inches too short, so i went to my mate at Midas on main north road, great bloke BTW, took him my cat and he copied my flanged and made me a 405mm 3" race pipe that replaces my cat and makes up for the short fall in exhaust lenght!
More power, some flames, more smelly!
Everybody wins!
Beats the hell out of a high flow cat, thats for sure!

Well considering you you pickerd the exhaust up so cheap, you could get a decent high-flow 3" cat, which is isn't going to be a big restriction, and never have to worry about the massive fine the EPA will slap on you for removing a cat.

The cops are too slack to get on there knees to check an exhaust anyway, if i get defected then I will put a cat on, but for now im just gonna enjoy my flamey goodness

A full 3" system with a cat for $500...no saving there! Thats still $300 cheaper than the BEST price I got for that in mild steel, let alone stainless!

The point I am trying to make is, $300 will get me some decent suspension (my special price) why should I spend it on a catalytic convertor

For starters dont call me an idiot, not all of my numberplate was even visible and now none of it is!
When you say something worthwhile what are you on about, i reckon that all of the mods done to my car have excellent bang for your buck factor so why do you say they are not worthwile?

worthwile as in ----- clear ur number plates , fit a cat converter etc
not having a go at u mate , just letting u know how easy it was for the cops to get u , in the way trying to help u avoid it
For starters dont call me an idiot, not all of my numberplate was even visible and now none of it is! --- well good for u now
as for the idiot -- i apologise for that , just got carried away
no hassels abut bang for ya buck matey surely u have got them done cheaper than icould have for a start , but whats the point when u saying no cat etc etc , and the cops get u , all the money down the drain , bang for ya buck in the impound and u cant get to enjoy the bang for ya buck
JUST BE CAREFULL WHAT U SAY ON PUBLIC FORUMS LIKE THIS MATE , ITS VERY EASY TO TRACK THE PERSON DOWN

My understanding is that the light comes on when car started from cold and doesn't go off until the cat is at operating temp. You are not meant to boot it until the light goes off to minimise those nasty emissions.
