hi,
i need to settle a small arguement/dispute about what turbo engines came in the mr2, specifically the sw20.
i say its the single turbo (3sgte), but the guy i work with says that he saw an sw20 with a twin turbo engine.
i was thinking that there wwas not any twin turbos that came with the mr2 from factory, but are there are twin turbo engines that could fit? 1ggte? i dont think the 1j or 2j could fit.
this is the pic that he saw to make him take this point of view.
could someone please explain what "twin entry turbo" means? as opposed to a normal turbo?

The exhaust turbine of the CT26 on the Gen2 and 3 #S-GTE has a split pulse housing. This means it has twin entry into the exhaust housing to increase response.
No there isn't a Toyota twin turbo engine that would really fit in a SW20.
Maybe send your friend back to school for some comprehension classes, "twin entry turbo" does not equal "twin turbo".

Yeah what he said.
A twin entry turbo is still a single turbo.
BTW i have the same engine you're talking about and so far i haven't found a second turbo under the bonnet
Cheers

I've seen a twin turbo 3SGTE SW20 MR2...
Not standard ofcourse...
Maybe he simply misread "Twin Entry Turbo" as "Twin Turbo" at a glance or something as simple as that...
