Yeah I know what you mean.
It wouldn't be overly difficult to change it to manual or chuck in a 20 valve conversion.

You should see the aftermarket stuff available for these!! 
Clear rear lights
bodykits
smooth tailgates with the numberplate relocated to the bumper & remote opening
conversions to make the rear glass open independant of the tailgate.
...
Pity it ain't a 4wd version.
I'd sell the Caldina & do a 3S-GTE transplant

My brother (in Adelaide) had his Subaru wagon written off in an accident last night & we'll be looking for a replacement.
Are you in a hurry to sell (I'm guessing not judging by how long it's been posted) as I'll be home in Brissie for Christmas after 14 Dec.
Have you got any more pix of the interior, exterior, engine bay, etc.
Out of curiosity, what revs does the engine sit on at 100km/h in top gear?
Also what kind of fuel economy does it get?
