11.9 @ 125mph on street tires Wed, 08 September 2004 07:13 Go to next message
As the title says I ran a 11.984 @ 125.47mph on 225/60/14 street tires the other night at a street meet.
The launch was just riding the clutch of at idle then putting my foot down as any boost at all would result in massive wheel spin therefore a 13sec pass. At the time the car was down a good 30rwkw's due to no tuning time before the meet.
Dad hopes to get the car on the dyno before friday night and pick that power up so we can run it at the test & tune (with slicks this time).

BTW I am Robbie, Trevors son who ran that time - I think the best he managed was a 12.2 pass. (Must be getten old Razz )

Here is a link to the times.

pretty impressive trap speed - indicates theres quite a bit of time to be caught up with good tyres and a decent 60'

125MPH?!?!?! Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Just looked at that link. Number 11, Michael Zammit?! Since when did Mikey get a JZA80?!
Unless it's another Michael Zammit, but that seems rather unlikely?

Well, he could quite easily be, but I find it highly unlikely that this particular Wog Boy would be racing ANYTHING up in Mackay??!

But anyway - The point at hand... Fkn awesome time there!! Shocked BIG Congrats! Very Happy

Congratulations, just as a sidenote this caught my eye yesterday...

Your time is almost that of a million dollar plus Porsche GT Carrera Shocked check out the specs;

Quote:

Thanks, yeah it is all standard internals bar a set of gap-less rings.
Test and tune was on again Friday night but we didn't run the slicks (the old boy doesn't believe its a street car if you use slicks). The track had a lot of dust on it and we couldn't seem to get any good runs in - the one run I had in the car was a 12.4 but was all over the track - pretty much sat on the rev limiter all through 1st, 2nd and 3rd (3rd was a bit scary going sideways down the track).
At the night end dad also let me know he has taken a lot of power out of it till he soughts out the traction problems - it is now running a sedate 226rwkw's as opposed to the 272rwkw's it had at the start of the year.
Robbie

Sorry, I didn't mean to stir up this controversy. They're obviously two vastly different cars Razz

I just meant that it was an interesting line ball comparison. An $xx,000 3SGTE Celica (i'm only guessing) vs an $x,000,000 Porsche, separated by only 0.5 of a second over the standing 400m...

EDIT: Full story on the Porsche
