a few questions concerning a 1g-gze into a gz10
the car is currently 1g-ge with and auto box (ECT)

1. does the auto box have its own ecu or use engine ecu?
2. does the auto box need inputs from the engine ecu to run?
3. will the auto box change gears if i run an aftermarket computer for the engine? or will it need sum inputs from the aftermarket ecu to change gears?

Cheers
Matty

Own

Possible, but only simple things if anything.
I remember reading a write up on the A43DE box (which I presume you have), and it said it takes in inputs from engine temp, revs, brakes, speed etc etc.
How true this was, I don't know.
Have a look under the dash, see if any wires go between the ecu.

Possibly some inputs, like the ones I mentioned above.
But I dont think the A43DE will go into limphome mode like the newer boxes do, it may just have interupt the shift points.

Try it, only one way to find out.

They are 2 separate ecu's located in the kick panel on passenger side.

the auto box does need the ecu to run and change i beleive. but they could be sourced from an aftermarket ecu as they are only simple things as stated.

you will be easily able to wire it up to work with new ecu id say.

good luck with conversion.. i love my z10 soarers(own 2 of them, one with 1jz and 1g geu, same as yours)
make sure u post pics and info when its done

If the 1GGZE you have is late model then you won't need the original auto controller; the auto is controlled by the main ecu. If it is early model then it will have a separate controller and this will control the auto like it did before with only a few basic inputs from the main ecu.

If you plan to use aftermarket (which is a waste by the way) you cannot control the auto directly but the original auto controller can be made to receive inputs from the aftermarket computer and work like it did before.

Also remember that the1GGE torque converter will be quite different to the 1GGZE and may not be the best for using behind the new engine.

I have quite a bit of info on my site (www.sixworks.com.au) if you need wiring info.
