Hello!!
I'm curious about all the different turbos out there..
For example, whats the difference between a t25 and a gt25?
Anyone wants to share some knowledge or know any good websites or articles I could read up?
Can't seem to find any...
Thanks!

to my knowledge the T25, is of nissan / garret design, where as a GT25 is from an aftermarket company, such as GCG or HKS..
can anyone else confirm or disprove this???
as for the T25, it is a plain bearing turbo also, where a GT series will be a ball bearing core.

a GT25 is a Garrett / Honeywell turbo.
I wouldn't bother with the numbers as I doubt you'll find different manufacturers part numbers are very frequently related to one another.
e.g. a Toyota CT26 isn't anything like a Garrett GT25, GT28, GT30

Ok I found the answer in the garrett catalogue... They have a garrett T25 and a garrett GT25R.
I'll rephrase my question:
What is the difference between a T25 and a garrett T25?
Just coz I heard someone say that a Garrett T25 is way better than a T25.. is this true? (and are they different turbos?)
So I take it a (non Garrett) T25 is made by some inferior company?

Jero, as a novice mate be real careful about what you listen too. There is more crap on turbos out there than just about any other aftermarket part. Many turbo shops rebadge turbos with there own names after little or no modification just for the Bling bling and to bump the price. Some shops mix and match different wheels and housings, again so they can call it their "special" when in reality it's just a bitsa. It'll take you a long time to get your head around all the crap out there and you really need an industry connection to be totally confident about all the model numbers and what they really mean.
Ray Halls site is pretty good but you are best off talking to an expert like ray or Bill Keen from ATS in Adelaide who can help you out with what you really need.
To answer your question though both the T25 and the GT25 are from Garrett. They bear no resemblance to each other at all. The T25 is a sleeve bearing turbo and uses old old old wheel design. The GT series turbos are ball bearing design and generally use the new design TO4S wheels. The GT25 comes in a range of trims and a/r's (sizes) for hp ranges from around 280 to 440 hp. The plain T25 would be good for 250hp tops on a good day.

Or you could go and talk to Steve Boyle at United Fuel Injection, for you turbo requirements - he is the best person in Perth I've found to talk about turbos and requirements.

Nope, that information is probably correct with the S15 turbo sitting somewhere around the smaller of the GT25's.

There are companies claiming an upper limit of 200rwkw using a setup retaining the factory turbo, hesitations about quoting dyno figures not-withstanding, that's probably a nice figure for most street cars while retaining the low-end response of the factory turbo.
