ma61 7mgte wiring... Thu, 09 September 2004 12:02 Go to next message
Hi,

I'm kinda new in this forum but i'm wondering if there is anyone out there who has done the conversion that is willing to give a couple of pointers to a newbie and his backyard mechanic? The engine is basically completed (reconditioned everything with new gaskets) and i'm jus waiting on the delivery of a new clutch and oil relocation kit. The wiring is proving to be an absolute bitch. Is there anyone out there who can give me a couple of pointers on what to do? i've read the webpages regarding the conversion on celicasupra.com and the one from NZ (andy.net or somethin like tat) but they still leave a couple of vague areas. Namely regarding the ignitor, EFI relay and fuel injector resistor. I have virtually no electrical talents so any help would be appreciated. If anyone is willing to actually rock up and help Smile i could offer some reimbursements... jus to get rid of this persistant headache i've been having for the last 2 weeks.

p.s. i'm located in the eastern suburbs of melbourne by the way... so if there is any kind souls out there... pleeasseee... any help would be really appreciated.

Check my website (www.sixworks.com.au). I have information on a few different variations of 7MGTE that may be of help.

Thanx for the reply so far. Good to know there are people out there who cares Smile . I wouldn't mind having someone with prior knowledge to this conversion who happen to live in Melbourne to help though. I'd pay for breakie lunch and dinner plus whatever grog they might want if a kind soul is willing to help.

oh yeh, and before someone tells me to do a search through the forums and other forums, I have done that. As I have no electrical talent Embarassed .. AT ALL.. wiring diagrams really prove useless. So far the wiring has been done by following the various sources on the net. Only need some advice on the left over wirings. Someone to look over the wiring that I have done would be good too... C'mon pples Smile there must be someone willing to score a day of food and grog.

The problem you'll find is it will now take twice as long for someone to trace the problems and fix your wiring mistakes. If you want to send me the complete 7MGTE harness I can sort it, set it up with new relays etc and send it back tagged for easy self installation. Other then that you can take it to Fours and More (melbourne) and talk to Brenton or Dave.

Sorry, I can't offer anything more then that.

Grant,

I understand what you are saying. God forbid I have made a mistake but I'm fairly confident that the ones I have done so far are correct. If not, anyone that comes over and notices that I have done it wrong need only tell me, I will redo all the wiring myself. I just need to be pointed in the right direction. Also, how much are u looking for to set up the 7mgte harness with new relays and etc? and how long would it take?

I didn't mean to offend, just being honest. You did say you had no idea about the wiring though. Max price $395 not including the factory toyota fuel pump relays (which you should already have). This also includes full bench testing to ensure it all works when you plug it in. The job would take about 2 weeks as i already have a few looms to do.

No offence taken. Smile I'm not that sensitive heh heh. I can admit that I am stupid if the need arises. And I do have the fuel pump relay and resistor. Have hooked that up. Didnt mention it before. All the wires have only been spliced. I did not cut or solder them on as yet. Only electrical taped. Just in case there was a mistake it can be undone fairly quickly. $395 may be a little bit outside my range at the moment, but depending on how fast you can get it done, I may be interested. I'm going to have to take the intake manifold off to get the 7M loom though. *sigh* more work. Do you have any idea on the mail costs for something like a loom up to NSW?

Just edited my last post about time. The jobs I have now are not too urgent so I could start as soon as I get it; say 1 week turn-around. Postage to Newcastle would be maybe $20. If you would like examples of my work check my site.

Hmm. Tell you what. I'm going to go ask my backyard mechanic about this. And you can guarantee a one week turn around time? and that everything will plug straight in? And yes, I have checked out your work on the site several times and I am impressed. If only you were in Melbourne dude. I'd definitely be taking it to you.

I have to run off to uni now to cut dead people, so I will get back to you in the evening. Thanx dude.

Hehe. Well its nice to have genuine people who are willing to give a hand even though I'm newish to this forum. And its definitely appreciated. The offer still stands if there is anyone in Melbourne willing to lend a hand though. Now with the added bonus of all the grog you can drink. Very Happy
