I'm upgrading to a R154 after spitting a W58 so the replacement box and bellhousing will be up for sale. Any early birds want to make a decent offer before it comes out and goes on the general market?

To which one? The one that dies just collapsed the front haft bearing. I haven't pulled that one down yet but previous W50 that went that way were always fine, i just replaced the stock Toyota bearing with a needle roller bearing that can take higher thrust loads.
The box that's for sale is fine. It came with a slight whine in the front bearing so i would spend the $10 and replace it with the needle roller but syncros etc feel good.

ahh sorry, misinterpreted. thought you were selling the dud box.
what year/model vehicle are these boxes from?
im interested in this needle roller upgrade for the input bearing. mines up for replacement and ive not looked at it before - dont know what to expect. any ideas if the late boxes (jza80 etc) run a different input shaft size and bearing to the earlier boxes? know if this needle roller replacement idea applies to these later boxes?
sorry for the hijack by the way.

No probs.
The later JZA80 boxes are Getrag boxes in the turbo (V160), they are totally different beasts. The N/A JZA80 W58 is the same box as all the other W58's. Same size 29mm 21 spline input shaft etc etc.
The needle roller bearing is actually from a BMW box but i don't have any part no.s. I just took my toyota bearing inot the local bearing shop and asked for the equivalent as a needle roller.
As a point of interest the R154 also runs the same size input shaft as the W50/55/57/58/59. Good old Toyota
My box is from a late model 1GGTE powered Supra

ok
i was under the impression that the late model jza80 (na) w58 ran slightly different shaft and bearing sizes to the earlier models. also some difference in the synchro assembly. im not sure ive never pulled one apart.
might just strip it down one weekend and left skf do the hard work
cheers mate

Hi Justen, i'm very interested in the bellhousing too.. also am curious to know if it came from dellows or from CRS...
out of curiosity, how much power did you make before the w58 bit the dust???
btw, im a lextreme member too... unsure whether to use the r154 i already have or to go the extra and just buy a damn v160 for my supra....

i am interest in the box only as it would be going behind my 7mgte. So the bellhousing would be no use to me if you were to sell it

R-jay..It's a Dellow bellhousing. I was a little nervous on ordering it after hearing the 4AGE-W55 horror stories but i was plesantly surprised. Everything lines up perfect and no tweeking was required at all. A mate with the CRS housing had to grind quite a bit off the block to get the slave cyl to fit in his Soarer.
Not sure of the hp but if i used the needle roller bearing i'm pretty confident it would handle 300 rwkw if you didn't abuse it.
I'm looking for 350 rwkw minimum so i'm just going to have to live with the R154 shift quality....what can you do?
