Wanted: Genuine info on GT4's

Does anyone have any info on what comes standard on a 1990 gt4?
Ie: engine and body suspension details etc...
I'm beginning to wonder if mine is australian delivered or not...
The Toyota guy said that if the Body no. ? ends with a Q then it's aussie delivered ..which mine does...BUT i've got some stickers in my car that are in japenese....so..just want to make sure..
Also does anyone know what the button on the top left of the steering column is for? (that's where the jap stickers are).
Cheers

One easy way to check is if your back guards are wider than a normal celica, it's an Aus spec GT4. IIRC, the Jap ones only came in normal narrow body.
Can anyone else confirm this?

you have an import by the sounds of it.
As tooch said, 99% of aussie GT4s are widebody. They will also have a 260kmh speedo. They will also have the larger brake rotors with the single piston caliper compared to the import's smaller rotor with twin pistons.

JDM ST185 GT4's also came in widebody form like the Aus spec versions too, you'll need to check your chasis number with Toyota, though if it starts ST185xxxxxxxxx, it's JDM from memory.

All the aussie ones had their model number as:
ST185R-BLMQZQ (Group A)
or
ST185R-BLMVZQ (Standard GT4)
I believe most of the jap ones vins are E-ST185XXXXXX.

Yep that sounds better, thanks Toobs. I recall there is a difference but without pulling the office to pieces looking for the info, I was going from distant memory. Run your chassis number with Toyota, they'll tell you the origin of the car!

ST185R-BLMVZQ here...
So aussie delivered?
Cool
I'd hate to crash it and have insurance tell me it's not covered..

You wanted to know about that button on top of the steering column, its a memory button for the steering wheel adjustment(up/down), as you put the key in the ignition you will hear a click. You should be able to work the rest out if not just ask.
