hey guys i bought a st162 sx not too long ago and just have a few quick questions.
1. on the drivers side of my car the power window buttons are black with green LEDs but on the passenger side the button is plain blue. is this right or has something been changed?
2. How difficult/expensive is it to put remote locking in?
3. How difficult is it to remove the instrument cluster? i have loose screw behind it which rattles its arse off whenever i'm at 2600 rpm and really shits me.
thanks

1. Afaik, probably something is changed, maybe it had a faulty switch at one point...but it's probably an OEM part.
2. Not that expensive, not that difficult, you can buy kits for that kind of thing from various places, jaycar et al.
3. Annoying, and time consuming, but not difficult, it's mainly just screws, make sure you use the right size screwdriver because the last thing you want to do is fuck a screw up.

I have had the instrument cluster out a couple of times, it's not a hard job at all.
I did however find that I had to remove the steering wheel to get the cluster out. You may be able to jiggle it around and get it out OK, but I didn't want to risk scratching anything so I took the wheel off to be sure.
There are 4 screws that hold the cluster in place, here's the steps to get to them:
a) Slide out the hazard and rear demister switches from the sides of your instrument binnacle, and undo the connectors on them
b) Remove the black surround that is screwed under the "hood" of the instrument binnacle - it is held in by two screws. This will reveal the two upper screws that hold the instrument cluster in place.
c) Remove the RH front speaker grill (single screw) and then remove the plastic trim piece behind it that runs across from the centre console to the door. There's a few screws on this one, look around and you'll find them OK. Behind this you will find the two lower screws for the cluster.
Best of luck chasing down your noise!

My car has the green lights in the power window switches too. I'm guessing its something that came standard on the later model?

The green LEDs are normal but I dunno about the blue switch? I'd have to look at my car and it's at least 30m away right now, which is too far for my lazy self atm If it works, then does it really matter anyway
