18R head reco... what else while it's apart?

Hi guys
I'm a litle bit new to the 18R thing, so these may be previously covered questions. Unfortunately with an '18R' search you find every thread ever written so I will just ask again and be done with it
I am changing the head over and doing a reco at the same time. While it's apart, what else should I be doing? Normally I'd replace the cam belt and check that the tensioner is in order. Unfortunately I've never worked on and don't know anything about chain-drive engines so is there anything I need to be aware of or should be looking for?
Are there any problematic things that should be replaced or checked while it's all apart? I'd prefer waste time/money now on something that may/may not need doing rather than getting stuck taking the head off again in 2 months time!
My current list is:
* Cylinder head full reco
* New head gasket
* New side gasket
* Coolant
* Thermostat, gasket sealant
* Oil
* Oil Filter
* Spark plugs
All of that totals about $300... farks me why anyone would want to put an imported engine in their car, I forgot how damn cheap stock engines were!!

flush the cooling system - consider any old radiator suspect - a recore should be serisouly considered if rad has sat for a while - and a defiante, it sat partially filled.
front main seal on timing case should be replaced

Cool cool that's a start! This is going to be my daily driver and I'd rather spend an extra few hundred here and there to get it right. I don't want it to break. Ever.
Aret here any other things I should replace or be looking for? As I mentione dI have no idea about timing chains.. are there tensiuoners, adjustments, guides or anything like that I should be looking to replace, or is that stuff non existant or hardy enough to leave as-is?
I am definitely goign to do something about the radiator - unsure about the costs of a recore but I might just keep it off the road that little bit longer to make sure it's done properly.
