Les I've noticed that also... I do get some, but it seems erratic. I'll look into it. List all your other complaints here and I'll look at them when I get the chance.

Problem found...

ok after spending some time looking at this problem I think I might know what's going on.
The behaviour of the new notification system is a bit weird (and too smart for it's own good). What happens is that when you create a thread and someone replys, you get an email notification. Now if you don't happen to visit that thread again (which is more than likely with the new style emails that include the message text), then the forum software stops sending you any more notifications for that thread since it doesnt want to flood your email with notifications.
I'll looking at a way of turning of this "feature"... please have patience...

The auto update thing that craig is talking about, where it updates when you use the back button. I got used to it with the old forums, but it did make the whole little new post notification light system work much better.
I think it was ginsie talking about it in the other thread, but I looked at the time & date thing down the bottom of the toymods page, and shouldn't the time be actually moving?
I never really looked at it before, so I dunno what it used to do.

Powertel 155MB Access 20MB PVC
Telstra 34MB Access 8MB PVC
Asia Global Crossing 155MB Acceess 6MB PVC
Southern Cross QWest 100MB Access 4MB PVC
2) Maybe we should bring back the "No Life" status?
I've made a change to the email notification system that hopefully will fix the problem, let me know if you start getting zillions of emails or something like that.

Mum, I've got a problem...
I know you've already changed heaps of stuff, but is there any way you can set the notification back to the previous version's method? Like, if someone replied to a thread, we got one e-mail...
I went to uni for a couple of hours and checked it again last night and there was like 30 e-mails, cos I got one back for every reply to the threads I was subscribed to.

Sorry JCMF, can't have it both ways... Sorry.
Just make sure you don't subscribe to threads you don't want to know about - you can turn off the "subscribe by default" setting in your Profile, and unsubscribe from any you are subscribed to under the "Subscriptions" tab (in Profile).

I get what you mean...what exactly did they do to stuff it up so much? Why can't they follow the old adage...if it ain't broke, don't fix it! The notification system of the previous version worked awesomely!!!

I think what happened was that in the old version, you got emailed links to the thread which meant you had to go to the thread to read the article, and by doing so reset the flag that then enabled you to get more notifications.
Now that the message comes in the email you tend not to actually click on the thread, which means that you don't receive any more notifications for that thread, unless you manually go and check the thread via the forums.
Now you are getting all posts basically because I ripped out the code that does any of that checking however I will take another look at it when I get a chance to see if I can find a happy medium somewhere inbetween...
Thats my guess anyway

What used to happen was that if I looked at the thread (after replying or just checking) I would get a reply. What I gather from what you said is that the theory is the same for the new version. Problem is, i'd just never get any notifications even if I did look at the thread! Sorry to be a pain
