look up a place called jobwire, they're kind of a temp agency
really good if you need a job quick
sometimes you land decent paying work too(mate was earning $1100 after tax per week as a casual, long hours but $21+ an hour base rate)

Some advice?
If someone came up to you and said 'I just got fired, do you have a job for me?', would you give it to them?
Try "I just finished up at my old job, and I was wondering if anyone had any opportunities?"
As for the very long plz - big mistake, never sound desparate for a job, you have to sell yourself to them, by the time you leave they have to think they can't survive without hiring you...
Were you actually fired or were you 'let go' due to lack of work. most casuals are let go, because it is easier on the paper worl- if you haven't been fired (officially or otherwise) then don't say it, if you have, then you need to think of a damn good explination as to why. Don't blame your previous employer, say you had a difference of opinions and you have learnt from getting fired...

My sentiments exactly. Even if you explained to me that it was in no way your fault, I still wouldn't hire somebody who told me that.
Squid has pretty much summed the deal up though.

I didn't comment on wether or not the reson for getting fired was correct, I don't really care! But to a prospective employer what sounds better?
'Me old boss fired me cos he rekons i was lazy, did nothing but surfed the net'
-or-
'There was a breakdown of communications about the expecations of my position. From this I have learnt that if I am unlcear on what the expectations are, I should, and will, actively seek definition from my superior. That way I can actively take part in making sure that the expectations of both my employer and myself are met.'
