Having been there, I would suggest you look at getting a single piece tailshaft made. When my centre bearing played up I had one made for $140+GST IIRC.
Easier to work with, lighter, stronger, and generally cheaper than putting in a new centre bearing.
Trucks break tailshafts quite often, and there are a number of specialist businesses here in QLD. I'm sure that trucks also break in Victoria, so I'd be stunned if you couldn't locate someone to assist cheaply.

ok, it wasnt repco, it was autobarn... my bad.
i shagged my bearing in dubbo, and the local autobarn had a massif tailshaft bearing book that they thunbed through to find me one for the ma61 supra.... it just happened that in the process of looking, we found a listing for the ma70 supra...
my ma61 unit had to be ordered in from the manufacturer/distributor...
perhaps try giving dubbo autobarn a call and get them to look through whatever that book is that they have there

7M: This is a bog stock chicks car with no intention of mods or anything. The labour cost involved in swapping to a single would not be whorth it for her. Thanks for the suggestion though man.

Meh... mine went a coupla years ago, and word then was they don't make them any more. I had to have mine rebuilt. Cost between $150 and $200 (can't remember exactly) - as Supra parts go, that's cheap.

Urgh, with an IRS diff tho, if you want to install/remove a 1 piece shaft you will have either the choice of removing engine and gearbox, or removing the differential setup.....
(this is because the rear submember has a loop that the tailshaft goes through!)
Cheers

Sorry but that's all incorrect.
An MA61 has a rear submember, and as such I would not have made this suggestion if we were discussing an MA61. We are instead talking about an MA70 which, like many other IRS cars, does *not* have a rear submember that the tailshaft travels though.
On an MA70 it is much easier to remove a single piece tailshaft - four bolts at the diff and it's out! The factory two-piece on an MA70 involves four bolts at the diff and two extra bolts for the centre bearing.
