before i continue, i would just like to say that im new to this scene so some of the question i ask might be stupid, but its new to me

goin to my question, i would like to transplant a 1g-gte in to my ra23, and i would like to do it myself ( an equally competent mate is helping), 1stly i need to find an engine.

called sss auto and they qouted me $750 without gearbox and intercooler. i would like to know if that is a bargain or i will be looking prices along that mark? would be simple to locate a gearbox and aftermarket intercooler? how do i go about locating a suitable engine, and what are the " catches" i need to look out for in an engine. i was reading in one of the articles and it said, for a ra23, look out for a mid-rear oil sump, is that true?.
any other information will be more than welcomed and would appreciate ne one helping me out here.
i am also looking for boot lid for my ra23. thanks!!

I would buy halfcut if i were you, that way u get everything u need, also you can get them to start it for you before you buy it, atleast that way you know it works.

This might help you also

for that 750 it will be a motor with nothing else attached.. you need a half cut.

SSS is very easy to deal with
my engine needed a new starter motor and they swaped it with no questions 2 months after I brought the motor

I second Dust's idea of buying a half cut, there is so much usefull crap in there that you can use e.g throttle cable, brake master, washer motor ect.
