Having had a 3" mandrel bent exhaust on a 3TGTE, I would never have one again for a street car - they drone too much and adding resonators defeats the purpose of having the increased size. I would recommend a mandrel bent 2.5" system with a good muffler at the back, for improved sound levels. you might also like to consider keeping the dump pipe 3" and then dropping back to 2.5" for the exhaust - as the gas cools down, it will require less space.

Interesting. Sorry to thread hijack, but for comparison what size do people recommend behind a 1GGTE?

I'd recommend the same setup. You could put a 3" system on it, but you'd still need to choke it up with resonators to eliminate the drone.
