What vacuum? If you mean the vacuum advance for the distributor, then yes, it should be connected.

grass hopper racing, i was looking for like an exploded view of these particular solexs that i have, i can send you pictures of them if youd like.. how is it possible that it works better with the vacume advance disconnected? but yeah just want to know if it will work..
SSI, yeah i mean the vacume advance from the dizzy to the carbs. i know it should be connected as on my old solexs, but these ones i have got now dont seem to have a place to put it onto or its either plugged up, there are a few bits of metal comming out of places as if it were blocked off, so maybe i can just run them without vacume adv connected?? strange though..

Maybe the car they were fitted to used a fixed advance curve or only mechanical advance. The 2T-G distributor is designed to use vacuum advance. Maybe if the port is soldered closed or something you could tap a fitting back in? Or take it from somewhere else?

solex has LOTS of models.
anything stamped into it?
the vacuum isn't really for the carb, it's for something that runs off of the carb, like the booster/servo or dizzy advance(nearly usless)or even a wind screen wiper motor.
the vacuum advance is really there to RETARD the ignition when the throttle is opened under a load.
